These last two pics are stunners! Great contrasting, glowing colors and shapes. I love it!:inlove:
Thank You Matt! Thought I would zoom out and see about a group top down, I liked those 2 photos in particular myself, lol... Cheers Man!
I have a Bali pink tenuis too - and it certainly is one finicky mofo. That $10 browned out piece is spectacular!
Thanks Mindy, the brownout special is one I am quite fond of, when Kevlow came over to check out the tank, it was one that jumped out at him, looks like a chunky tenuis to me. Yes that Bali Pink is just no too cooperative, seems irritated or just plain stubborn! Cheers
Perhaps its a "Rustic" Bali Pink Tenuis:lmao:
Its a good baseline at least, it will be cool to show that brownish with green tips as the "before" especially if it changes to look like it should:thumbsup:
Yes, sometimes we need to share the ugly, lol... However, pink and red colors do well for me, so fingers crossed
Perry's tank is certainly worth the quick drive. I haven't seen it recently but will be making a trip soon.

As far as waiting to get siporax or matrix, I don't see any benefit in waiting at all. First of all siporax is ridiculously expensive so Matrix is probably the most cost effective route. Having said that, both media take a long time to seed enough to notice any benefits. I recommend getting it and putting it in your tank as soon as possible. Once the new AF stuff comes out then just add it to your tank but it is best to get the matrix going soon.
Thanks Ed, you are welcome any time, just have not got my schedule with work consistent yet, so looking to maybe do something when it cools off, the summer has been scorching hot! Cheers!
Perry, is the 5th one down the coral you was wanting to compare to the one I showed you? I can see some resemblance
Hey sprite, I think it may be Jared's Rainbow, but I will have to wait until it starts throwing branches to see. Anyway, just another that has been kind of blah, but finally coloring up... Cheers!
That's it everyone, pack your sh*t up. There's no point continuing with trying to keep up with Perry now anymore :lolspin:
Well things are looking absolutely stunning mate! I was able to have a look at a pretty good range of the AF stuff that Dave has in store now

I reckon I'm going to give the DIY alk, ca, mg and salt/trace mix a go as it nearly works out to be cheaper than dosing Randy's lol definitely some crazy products in the range!
LOL Dom! Thanks for the outrageous compliment, we are all striving for the same thing, COLOR.... It's this word "COLOR" that makes us nearly insane, lol... Yes AF certainly has some crazy supps in the lineup, and more coming, looking forward to the new products as well. You will find the price tag is not too out of line with other products out there, it really makes it hard to not try them out. Best of luck to you on the project, looking forward to seeing them acros get wet in your tank my friend! Cheers
I have read you have done Zeovit before. What's the difference in Zeovit and aquaforest?
Yes, I have also done zeovit, and here are the main differences to me are that the dosing routine is more user friendly, the system in general seems more forgiving. Zeovit does not really speak of their ingredients, whereas AF includes them. The program is more capable of being hybridized, not all or nothing type feel to the products. The cost is much cheaper. The results I like better, the tank is not totally pasteled out, the corals still maintain a saturated color. Like any other system, Zeovit included, you have to change your thinking to include more observation, and understand the import vs. export very well, husbandry cannot be solved with little bottles, it must start with the hobbyist. Like for example, if your nitrates are high, and you are dosing AF products that help to reduce N&P, you still have to get to the source of the nitrates, dosing something for a fix will not work with any program out there. Cheers!
Perry awesome pics again. How long would you wait till you add a few pieces of sps to a new tank? I'm hoping to get my salt tomorrow and mix up about 21g in the tank empty and then add the sand and rock then mix the rest up outside the tank and then I'm thinking about cheating and buying the AF bio s to speed up the cycle. Are the pro bio s and np pro necessary?
Matt,
These days it is not unheard of to start shortly after a cycle to add corals, and some even do sps. I am a believer though in maturity of a tank providing stability. Something about a tank that has coraline, micr inhabitants, dusters, tunicates, sponges, pods, worms, etc... These usually take awhile to develop, and I feel new tanks go wrong with ULN. So if you add them to the tank before the rock and tank really become LIVE, you may want to make sure that you are not ULN, otherwise the corals may starve. If you are using Probiotic Reef Salt, then yes, you should continue to use Pro Bio S and NP Pro, even if you drop your dosing in half or less, that way the bacteria populations are built, and maintained by being fed NP Pro. Cheers!
