What combo of lighting to you have here. I love how the colors are so intense and the dark spots are so black. it really has an intense contrast that looks fantastic.

Thanks - the video was taken with just the LED's on. I don't recall at what time but I would suspect the white LED's may have been dimming some but still on

The contrast usually comes out this way with just LED's as they spot more then flood the area. When I take videos with the T5's on I get less contrast but a huge difference in brightness when videoing the top versus the bottom. The brightness stays pretty steady with just the LED's

this acropora is growing on me - it's yellow with blue tips, the video color is off some as the yellow looks like it has a shade of green in it that shows up more in the video then real life

So its actually yellow with blue tips?

Just finished reading through the thread. All I can say is wow...Looks great
thanks

I'm not sure but the consensus on the SPS ID forum seems to think it's an Acropora Tenuis

So its actually yellow with blue tips?

yep - I'd say the main skin is a light yellow with a tint of blue green but very faint. The radial corallites are a deeper yellow without any tint and the axial corallites are baby blue that blend into the main color of the body.

Did you do a DIY led build? I'm looking into doing more with my lighting and right now I have the dimmable 120w led from Taotronics on a 30 gallon sps dominate tank.

Yes I did a DIY LED build, actually did it in two phases. They are documented earlier on in the thread but feel free to ask if you have any questions. I don't know much about the Taotonics (or any other pre built LED system) as I decided to go with a DIY from the start. Are you looking to add more LED's or change out some on the unit you have?

I have a 29g tank that currently has T5's. It's mostly softies and a pair of clown fish but I just bought the supplies to build a 36 LED system for it in hopes to keep some LPS in there (and maybe an SPS or two). I'm still in the design phase as I haven decided exactly what I'm going to build or what LEDs I'll have on each of the two dimmer controlled ballasts.

I was planning on adding a 16" strip of heatsink and however many LEDs I could fit on that.

What colors of LEDs did you put on your unit?

If it's just a strip (like flat bar) I'd go around 4-5" center to center, but if it's a heat sink with fins you can go a lot closer. If you are concerned about heat and having them too close to each other there are some calculators out there like this one

http://support.luxeonstar.com/custo...at-sink-i-need-includes-heat-sink-calculator-

Guessing you could go 2" on center or 8 LED's

My LEDs are all Royal Blue or Cool Whites with about a 2 to 1 ratio of blues to white.

Thank you for the link and info, I appreciate. Wow, just rb and cw.. Maybe I'll just do t5s.

Thanks again, btw, the coral close up video was very nice, love the polyps on that thing.

thanks guys

I said that acro looks yellow from the front, but from top down the camera certainly picks up more lime green, maybe it's the blue LEDs at an angle with the top open
