Hi guys,

So I asked my girlfriend to put ph calibration solution in the tank so it can get same temperature, unfortunately she literally opened them up and dumped them in there:hmm4:. It was 7.0 and 10.0 I checked ph last night after did it, it was 8.0. I have 60 gallon system, I did 5 gallons w/c last night, and today did another 5. How bed the damage can be? Oh and can it cause brown algae on the glass?

Please help.

They probably won't do any harm. I think they consist mostly of conjugate acids and bases, which should be reasonably safe in small quantities.

I laughed out loud when I read this.....I had a similar situation, which wasn't all that funny at the time, but now I look back....

My son was assisting with water top off for a 55 gallon tank. I would have him fill the containers weekly and set them aside. All along I would indicate to him how important it is to keep these containers clean.

That turned into him putting some dish soap into each container, and me dumping in two gallons before I realized what was going on, and the subsequent water changes, freak outs, etc.,... :)

I feel your pain.

HaHa.... You got me rolling. It was fine Just had a lot of algae on the glass for 2 days and that's was it. But at first I was freaked out. And my girlfriend almost start crying and saying I killed Nemos

Stereotypes being what they are.... I can hear the typical blonde joke that could be made from this.

Glad everything is ok.
