Just got my 180 setup last week with 3 250w 14K Phoenix HQI DE bulbs run by M80 ballast and I like the look without VHO supplement.

He had sand. Until he turned on his Tunzes. :D
 
I use 3 phoenix 250w on icecap electronic ballasts to light my 210g. The color and growth have been great so far. I changed the last set of bulbs out at a year and didn't notice any change in growths or colors.

Anyone running the 150watt bulb? Reason I'm asking is I lowered my bulb tonight from 8" to 6.5" and it looks alot better. Maybe I had my 150W too high?

CamBarr- Thanks! I agree sand is nice but as Aquaduck said it all got skimmed out when the Tunze's kicked on ;) Sorry no sand or zeo or prodibio.
 
dkle- Vey nice your colors are spot on and all of my acros which are like yours show the same color. Especially the Birdsnest and tenuis.
