Sorry I did not like them one bit . I ran those for a year almost and always hated the PHX on the Oceanlights.

I also love my Phx. I am getting very good growth but the reason I am is I started adding amino acids. Before growth and colors were ok nothing great. If you are not getting good growth under a Phx maybe something else is missing. I've seen clkwrk's tank and his growth is explosive.

It always has amazed me how electronic ballast maker's have done such a good job at getting reefers to beleive that HQI ballasts overdrive the DE bulbs. That is probably why they have been so successful.

Just like the the M80 ballast, the European hqi ballst runs the bulb at approx 300 watts. Since the bulbs were made for a ballast that exhisted long before electronic ballasts exhisted, it is safe to say that the HQI does not overdrive the bulbs (that is considering the bulb is a DE bulb.

I have been using a phoenix 150w for the past ten months or so. After 4 months the growth seemed to decline quite a bit. On an electronic ballast. Love the color though

I am using 2 x 150 w 14 k on my tank.I have the aqua medic pendants.I am also using the xm 250 w mog in the middle of my tank so I am seeing good growth as well as color.The pendants came with 20 k I found they made my corals change colors.They made for a nice look.I have noticed corals changed with the 14 k but not as noticable a change as with 20k.

Im using a 250w on a hamilton ballast. Good color compared to the hamilton bulb but i sorta do notice that the colors are washed compared to other people's tanks. What kind of bulb would be good for poppin those colors from SPS?
