Phyon syphon issue

Hello I have the above to vacuum my sand but I'm not getting much suction?

This isn't the one you attach to the tap but one with some clear hose attach you syphon into a bucket.

The hole is clear with no obstruction, what am I doing wrong?

Remember that gravity is your friend. If the waste bucket is near the same level as the tank you get no gravity assist. If it's on the floor it will work much better. IMHO, spending a few extra $$ to get the one that hooks to the water supply is money well spent.


I run mine from the utility sink in the basement up to the DT. I turn off the water supply once the siphon is started because I've got 15 or so feet of gravity to help me along. I end up pinching the tubing to slow it down.

I syphon into a filter sock in my sump.

You are limited to the size of hose diameter because of the little barb piece for the hose to fit on.

There are different sizes. You don't have the mini do you?
It could be a smaller hose diameter. I have the large & have plenty of water draining.
