When the Black Come In

When the Black Come In

This is a response to Doe5ia14's post asking when the black color starts coming in. I bought my Picassos from Doni's Reef. When they arrived, they were very small, about 3/4 of an inch and had very little black coloration. I would estimate that they were 4 months old. The date was June 9, 2009. Today, 3.5 months later, they are just over an 1 inch is size and the black is starting to fill in. The first photo was taken recently, the second was taken July 5, 2009 ( a month after they arrived)x. Note the tail white tail bar and changes to the dorsal fin in just 3.5 months.

if you have a tank with good perimeters picassos are just like any other fish they live well and long....... now if you have a bad tank well they wont do so good..

i heard Picassos arent very hardy! please someone! tell me the truth!!

IMHO, Picasso's, and allot of the ORA clowns, were thin and sickly there for quite some time. Over the past year or so the quality seems to be improving. I don't see near as many skull deformities and under bites as I used to see. They seem to be much thicker and healthier when first released as well. I haven't seen them with white stringy poo in a long time either. I can see why someone would say they aren't very hardy, but I believe that was a thing of the past. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a pair today.

Just joined the club, picked up this pair of Grade B two weeks ago from LFS. Sorry for the poor pictures, sub-standard camera and even worse photographer.
