Picasso Percula Club

Two quick questions.
1. How were you able to track these two fish back to Bali?
2. Can you post something showing that A. percula live in the waters off Bali?

The video itself said they where from Bali. A member here known as ARATI at one point claimed to have a WC Picasso from Bali that was later sold. Unfortunately the picasso clownfish that where on bluezoo are sold but recall seeing that they came from bali.

I finally caught were the video says they're from Bali. That makes two points where I believe the poster of the video is mistaken. There's one huge problem with these fish coming from Bali. A. percula does not live in the waters off Bali. A. ocellaris does. So, it's impossible for them to be wild caught perculas from Bali. Simply impossible.

The 'original' Picasso I received from a small wholesaler in 2003. I posted a picture of it on R.C. and decided to call it "Picasso Percula" just because I thought the name was cool. It was an incredible onyx perc that looked like it was put through a blender. Insane markings, cheek markings and all.

A year later in 2004, several wild caught specimens of the "Picasso" variants came through out of the Solomon's. For about a month or so, they would come in pretty regularly. Then they just completely stopped coming through. Luckily, ORA got their female from this batch in 2004 before they disappeared. During that approximate month stretch of time, I would say I saw at LEAST two dozen beautiful WC Picasso percula.

Now that it's been about 8 years, it wouldn't surprise me that another big batch of the WC "Picasso" perculas start trickling through again.

FWIW, 2 years ago I was able to aquire a batch of wild caught Picassos that came through from Bali. Unfortunately they came down with brook incredibly fast and I wasn't able to save a single one.

Let's keep our fingers crossed they start coming through again, we need to freshin' up the bloodline :D ...

Here's a couple update shots on mine from Donisreef.
I think she's an excellent source BTW.
Mine have proven to be extremely hearty, and grown same rate as any other clowns I've had.
This pic is maybe 3mo ago.

Thanks, they just moved into their Purple Malu about a month ago, trying to get newer update pics worth posting of them in their new home.

Hey JT.
I have pics, but grainy.
Malu is like 3-4x bigger now, and brighter purple, very cool.
Picassos FINALLY noticed and moved into it 3-4 weeks ago, and rarely leave it.
They basically destroyed my big monti they were hanging in, looking like they were sweeping it for hopefully spawning.
I'll post pics real soon.

Donisreef is my personal fav, and where I got mine.
Her site is well worth checking into for pics/reading/info alone, and she goes through great measures to assure quality and health.

That is what I have heard but there are no fish listed for sale on the site. :( any other suggestions? I really want a pair of grade a picassos or a pair of snowflakes.

These are from doni they were bought 3 weeks ago

Where do all you guys get these beautiful clowns?!

I agree with Dave, Doni's would be the best to see the exact fish you are buying. Ive seen them posted on LiveAquaria as well under "WYSIWYG" section. As a matter of fact they have a Grade A pair posted now.

What i did was i told a LFS here in Sand Diego what i wanted and how i wanted them to look. He was able to get pretty dang close, and they are my favorite fish.

Yeah, I gotta thank you big time for that Malu JT, I'm loving it, and so are the clowns.
It took them a few months to even look at it, but once in, that is home.
