Pink Lemonade acro conditions

Hi all,
Just wondering where everyone has their pink lemonade acro situated? I am tempted to move my frag up real high. To be honest, I really didn't understand the hype until I saw it for the first time. The colors are just gorgeous...greenish body, blue base, pink polyps. Sorry for the small pic. The frag is just below the Oregon tort.

Maximus- I have it up high under 250w DE pendants 14k hammys (switching to 14k pheonix in a few days though).

It's in pretty good random flow.

I have found that random flow produces the long polyps that characterize this certain coral.

P.S. is that a denro? very nice!

Ahh, good to know Nick. You'll love the Phoenix bulbs, especially if you like the blue look. Do you have any pics of your frag? Yes, it's a dendro. It took over 6 months for a new head to pop out. Really slow growing coral.

I will try and get some pics of the frag for you...been real busy as of late. You can probably attest to exams and so forth, haha ;) Except you get the easy job of grading them :)

don't want to de-rail your thread, but how's the pair doing? Getting any spawning activites yet?

Nick

I am the master thread hijacker:) No worries, hehe. Nah, I haven't really seen any spawning behaviors yet. Then again, I am not really sure what to look for. I emailed Frank at RCT and those pics of the debelius juveniles were from him. He said he is trying to spawn more of them now, but he thinks it will be a long time until he has them on the market. I told him I don't care what the cost is. I want the 1st offspring from the next batch:)

I'm with you here also.Got the same frag also.I just moved mine up up to the top .Yes, disappointment in it also.I got another look alike also. And this acro by far, surpasses the PL.This frag came from Atlantis. And this has way more color than the PL does.If I had to do it again, would pass on it.Or unless,it goes threw some major changes.

I saw those debelius, they look SWEET! I wouldn't mind getting a pair...But i think they will unfortunatly go to Japan. I am sure you know why ($$$).

I know it will be a little ways off, i guess they are pretty hard to breed and raise....

I need to get in touch with Frank again, i wonder what he has cooking now-a-days. :D

I also wonder what the cost for the debelius would be...

if you want i can hook you up with someone that can get them for you, but you are looking at about 6,000 per fish....

Actually, I am not disappointed in the acro at all. The pink lemonade is the same coral as the shades of fall acro from Atlantis. Both came from ROAB via Tyree. I just want to move it up to give it a kick start so it can start growing fast for me!:D

maximus, i have the shades of fall from atlantis under t5's. hasnt grown much and the polyps are not as pink as i would like them to be. hopefully when i upgrade in a month with a giesemann fixture, i will place it up high and see how it does. ming at atlantis has it at the top too. so we'll see....

Yes, I forgot that Ming has it up high. Sounds like it can tolerate lots of light. How long have you had your frag, sidog?

it's been a few months now. the growth for me really has been the base, not really branching... but i havent been able to get it to have really pink polyps. i think we may have to ask hugo (snipersps) what his secret is. from what i hear, he has been able to grow it out nicely.

When someones ready to frag, please let me know. I can trade or pay or combo. I have not been lucky enough to get my hands on one. Thanks!

MIne is 12 inches under my 400 watt 10'k halide. The pink polyps are sweet. Its not an extremely fast grower like my stags, But it grows at a pretty good rate. I have had mine now for 3 weeks and its encrusted and has about 3/16ths of new bright yellow growth.
It was green when i got it, But the new growth is a nice yellow.
I like the yellow better. The polyp length is crazy in my tank.
I'll see if i can get a pic for ya today.

I've got mine about 6" under T-5's for about two months. It's pretty well encrusted, but the color isn't verry good. I'm thinking about lowering it and trying to give it better flow. From what I've heard about the coral you get the green under lowere kelven lights and the yellow under higher kelven.

This is when I first got it. The other side was not getting any light and was void of color and coralite. And of course when I mounted it that was the side that is viewable. :rolleye1:

Heres a pic of mine as of today. Its losing its green and turning yellow.
Does your guys have these long milli type polyps coming out of it?
Got this one from tubs.

Very nice pics! I don't have the mille-type polyp extension as of yet. I wonder if the extension is a function of size? It probably has more to do with water flow. My frag is small but has encrusted well. Creetin, how green was yours when you first got it? Mine is more green than yellow. I wonder if bright light=more yellow? I bet it does. Does your frag exhibit the bright blue, encrusting base?
