I normally utilize a month long quarantine procedure with prophyllactic treatment using prazipro and cupramine.

I was reading over some other threads and it was suggested that you use erythromycerin (spelling?) and maracyn 2?

Could someone explain the proper qt procedure for pipefish to me or point me in the right direction?

Thanks a bunch =]

For pipes, one of the best reasons for QT is so you can get them weaned onto frozen foods. It's the best way to observe them closely.

As for treating them prophylactically, the Praziquantel (prazipro) would be the best way to go. Furan 2 and Erythromycin are broad-spectrum antibiotics used to combat bacterial infections such as vibriosis. In fact, Erythromycin has kind of fallen out of use for Syngnathids, as Furan 2 seems to do a better job.

What type/species of pipefish are you considering?

One final thought, just in case you're thinking of mixing pipes w/CB SH, bear in mind that virtually all of the pipes in the US are WC, and they may be carriers of pathogens that they are perfectly immune to, but a CB SH won't be, so it's a crap shoot even on a good day.
