Are you sure? I just got a rock today with about 4 baby green bubble tip anemones that look similar to what he has. I've had majano and they didn't look like that. I'm sure you know more about this than me, just wanted to double check before he removes something that could be good.

I posted this question elsewhere but I just found this sticky. I apologize for the cross-post. Can anyone tell me what this is? I found it peeking out from a new piece of live rock while I wait for my tank to cycle. Is it anemone? coral polyp? something totally different?

could be majano but I'd need to see better pics of its mouth if possible. it could be a baby green bubbletip nem. hard to tell from pics tho.

I bought a Galaxea coral a couple of weeks ago, dipped it In Coral RX, and 5 or 6 serpent stars came out, a tiny shrimp looking thing came out, and this worm would not come out.
This is the first time I have seen it come out since I put the coral in my DT. It seems to call this coral home, because it does not leave it.

I found a few more that have spread to other rocks...should I try and take them out..?

Looks like aiptasia to me Kona. I would get rid of them as soon as possible. If you can take the rock out you can burn them with a butane lighter, scrape the rock where they attatch, burn a little more and rinse with fresh salt water. Aiptasia X has also worked for me.
I'm sure the experts will be back soon to confirm or correct.

Kona they are aiptasia. They spread like wildfire, they sting coral, etc and we all get them.
Just look up all these critters and see what works for you. Peppermint shrimp eat them, you just have to get the right kind...except lots of things eat peppermint shrimp. Matted filefish usually eat them, but they also eat soft coral. Berghia nudibranch eat them, but they eat them all and then starve unless you have enough aiptasia. Copperbanded butterfly eat them, but they are really fragile fish. Every aiptasia eating animal has a downside.
Aiptasia are the biggest pest in this hobby. I even have (puts pinkie next to mouth) a high powered laser for killing them. There are millions of ways to kill them....and they will always come back in the end. Injecting kalk paste, burning them off, injecting boiling water, various other chemical remedies.
You will always battle aiptasia. Really.....they just find a way unless you never add anything but dry rock and fish. We all have to deal with them and we all spend good money doing it. Just put aiptasia in the search engine and learn the most important thing you will learn about this hobby.

Got this LR on Sunday. Lost some livestock this week. Now I have spotted two new purple hitch hikers. The ones on top are very different from the one on the bottom. The bottom one looks like some kind of mushroom or something to me.
The top ones have stubby purple "arms" that have extended over the week.
The mushroom one looks like its dying to me. It had some kind of thread/noodle looking stuff coming from it.
What are they? Is it good or bad?
How should I proceed?

What about this guy? Looks like a bivalve but moves around like a snail. Has a feathery edge to one end of his shell.

Was doing my occasional night time recon and noticed a round flat rock I didn't recognize when I tried to pick it up it started moving. It's movement was like water flowing. When it stopped it was shorter and more round. When moving it elongated. It was thin enough you could see the sand through it as it moved. Here's a video. Good or bad?

My LFS had several Berghia nudibranch for sale this afternoon. Just under $20.00 each, measuring about a half inch long. I was tempted to get one for my 10 gallon nano reef tank, but passed.
My tank has a couple aiptasia anemones, probably more hiding. Will a comparatively cheap ($7.00) Peppermint Shrimp do the job, or did I make a big boo-boo by not getting one of the berghias?
