Bleh I actually didn't wait. I found a syringe and was able to give it a concentrated blast without issue. Hopefully that does the trick.

Been searching the whole net for this, but so far, no luck. Maybe one of you old salts can easily make an ID for me? It's this black, net-looking stuff on my live rock: it's hard, and not at all slimy. About an inch square in the pic.
I broke some off by poking it with a toothpick, and then immediately regretted it as it drifted off (sank, mostly) to potentially colonize other areas of the tank.
Anyone know if it's anything to be concerned with?

it has been noticed that bristle worms have eaten clams
