Pix & ID: Critters that come in your rocks: the good and the bad.

However there are two things I cant identify. The one I am most interested in I have attached pictures of. It reacts and closed its tubes if touched, but is somewhat rigid. Any insight is welcome!*

Ill post the other plant thing in a bit.

Thank you so much!! Your spot on!!

Here is the other thing I was talking about. I have several growing on that chunk of live rock. It's some kind of plant, but I haven't been able to identify it either.

Some are dead and ragged looking, the others still look perfectly fine. I apologize for the blurry picture. I can take a better one after work this evening.

to me they look like old feet from clams.

Here's a better picture of them. I tried googling clam feet? Dead clam feet? I didnt see anything that resembled these.

I tried to use the go pro to take better pictures, no luck. Everything was blurry.

Just a couple more.. after another hour or so of searching I've determined you guys are my last hope at figuring out what these things are.

broke out the DLSR for these photos, they are about an inch wide, 1/4 in thick and the top is open. The edges of the inside are grooved vertically.

Not knowing or being able to find anything close to them in my searches is driving me crazy!

Found a few (more) of these red/black ones in my QT... and 2 of these thinner/longer brown ones (first time seeing them).
Thanks for the help!

Both are? Why do they look so different? I was worried the fatter ones were fireworms since they were red.
Thanks for the help.
The short fat one just looks different cause he's not stretched out and they're semi transparent and you're seeing the digestive tract

I've been looking at them a lot since I pulled them out yesterday and every time the 3 short fat ones are that, and the two long ones are that. They even move differently, it sure doesn't seem to be the same thing. Unless we're talking about two worms that are different but in the same family and go by the same name. Or these are some different life cycle of the same creature. *shrug* It even seems to me the short ones have patches of legs/spines and the long one has one leg/spine per spot. Maybe I need a better picture to be sure, but that's what it looks like to me.

I think your over analyzing them they are harmless bristle worms I have hundreds of them in my tank. they are great detritovores. the only time you should be concerned is if you catch them actively eating live fish or corals. which IME I have never seen this happen.

I don't deny this one bit. Just (overly) cautious about adding things to my DT. :\
Thanks all for your help,

Thoughts on this little snail? Very small, dark shell - kind of whelk-ish. Apologies for the photo quality - this guy is small and rarely near the glass.

Thanks in advance!

It's kind of hard to tell. The next time you see it, take it out and put it in a small tupperware container full of water. Take a picture of both the top & the bottom of the snail.
