Placement of Tunze stream in tank

Hi

I have a 240 cm (94") long 70 cm (28") and 100 cm (39") tall tank

I just received 4 Tunze 6305

As per today I am some what disappointed because I do not feel I have enough flow

They do not seem that powerful after all...

May be has to do with placement and pulse, wave oscillation etc

Are there any guidelines for placement

I have one in each side opposing each other at mid deep and slightly facing upward and 2 in the back in 45º angle towards the front opposite down corner

I am using aquasurf (my bad ) controller and I am using the resonating time of 1,7 sec to generate a wave with no success

Any suggestions??

Regards and thanks to all

Claudio

Have you made sure the dial on the junction boxs are turned all the way up? The 6305s are very powerful pumps but if you are doing a very rapid pulse you may not get the full effect of the flow and in my opnion not using the pumps to thier potential (waveboxes really are a better choice for this IMO). You may want to disconnect from the aquasurf and just the dial to make sure you have them turned up. Also I think if you are trying to get a wave you would want 2 pumps on each side glass of the tank not 2 of them on the back. This way both would be pusing water down the length of the tank.

I have not used an aquasurf to attempt to create a wave and I saw you had posted in the Neptune forum. I would suggest you may want to post you timer names and statements you programmed in that thread as well

Thanks Shawn

yes I double check and they are all up!!!, and my power supply are 24v (no jumpers)

That is what I have one pump on each side glass facing each other and the other to in the back glass facing sideways on a diagonal to the front down opposite corner.

well, I will be trying some other placements but any other comment or suggestion is welcome

I have thought about 2 waveboxes but at this time are completely out of budget, may be later this year (second half at least)

regards

and thanks

It might not be the easiest but something you may want to try is putting 2 on each wall. Then start the time to say something lower than expected to be used like 1.0 seconds. Then keep incrementing it up by .1 every couple minutes and see if you can get any effect. Keep in mind even bing off by .1 or .2 could make a large effect on wave height

If that works i would see if two pumps doing the same will create any kind of wave, then use the other two pumps for flow if it does.

With wave flow you won't have much directional current, if you want direction current you will need to use another setting. To create a wave the pumps need to be 2 on each side facing each other with an inverse pulse.

Thanks for your help

do you know where can I read or find "guidelines " to maximize the water movement

Circular Flows?, Surge? pulse? Side ways ?, back to front (Chingchai's example)

I thought that 4 - 6305 plus the sump return was enough and really I realize that I was wrong

It should be plenty of flow, but when you use the pumps to create a wave, you will get a wave and not linear flow. I would either use pulse or a circular flow by alternating the pumps.
