Placing Stream without the front cover

Hi Roger,
I juz got my new tank setup and pending transfer of my corals over. I'll be going fishless for the first 1~1.5years, although I'm transfering everything from my old tank -juz to make sure. I've 4 streams, 6060,6080 & 6100 dual. A total of 4 Stream on my 120g and I find that removing the cover and exposing the propeller seems to cut down the direct flow and make the flow more distributed. Since the tank will be fishless, I don't see any harm running it without the front cover. Any thoughts? or have you try it?

Thanks,
Max

I think running without the cover increases the risk of damage to the pump and I would not recommend it. In the future you will be able to buy the intake screen for a 6200 and this will greatly diminsh the flow force but keep the prop safe. If algae or some debris were to unbalance the unit it could cause a problem- run only with a screen.
