There are clearly no guarantees but I would put the odds pretty high if you only add one clown other than the maroon.

We are considering that our first fish be pajama cardinals. Is this a good fish to start out with? We are wanting to purchase will be between 3 and 6 pajamas. I am leak checking and shaking down my QT at the moment so I have some time before I make the purchase.

Perhaps. At times when the page changes I can miss one, sorry. Generally chromis do not like each other and will winnow down their number to one or at most two. Also, dottybacks are aggressive.

Hello, I tried making a thread to have you pros take a look at my setup and offer advice but i feel that i should probably have posted here instead.
Im very new to the hobby and im taking this move into my new home as a chance to correct all of my rookie mistakes ive made (more to come). First since i will be having to replace my current live sand bed i was wondering what type of substrate would actually best fit my final goals of stock.
What i would like to have in my 75g in about 6 months from now.
2x Clownfish
1x Coral Beauty
various SPS
various mushrooms
pistol shrimp/gobi
anenome crab
1-2 anenomes depending on if clowns can share with the crab
plus a full clean up crew of hermits/snails
If theres any issues with the livestock choice please let me know.
My main concern is what kind of substrate to use since it will be a large investment and my time to purchase is running out. Also as filtration i will have a reef octopus bh2000 HOB, that i plan on running in my sump for the time being until i get an in sump one, I also have a fluval canister filter which once i have my sump/refugium up and running it will be removed. as a sump/refugium i plan on using a 30gallon used aquarium with everything home made.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. I need some direction please when i research it through various forums i find pros/cons for each and would like a someone to take a look at my goals and suggest a good fit.

I have a 34g wide tank and 5.5g sump almost ready to move livestock into. 35-40lbs live rock, sand bed averaging 4 -4.5 inches, led lights, aqaueon circulation pump 500, biocube protein skimmer, and aquaclear hang on filter rated 20-50g. I will be transfering a skunk cleaner shrimp, a peppermint shrimp, turbo snail, 3 hermits, an emerald crab, and chaeto from my existing smaller tank. But in addition this is what I'm looking to get:
1 Ocellaris Clownfish - if I decide to get a second in the future, will the pair take over the tank?
1 green clown goby
1 firefish
2 neon gobies
1 flame angelfish
1 spotted cardinal fish
nassarius and astrea snails for cuc
possibly another skunk cleaner
recommendation for an urchin or starfish that stays small?
2 feather dusters
zoa colonies
Too heavy a bioload? If I dropped 1 neon goby, firefish, spotted cardinal and the extra skunk would that be better?
1 Ocellaris Clownfish - if I decide to get a second in the future, will the pair take over the tank?

I have finally moved all of my livestock from my 75 gallon into my 180 gallon
I already have a YWG but he does no sand sifting at all. He just stands watch at the entrance to his borrow all day.
Hes not aggressive with any of the fish in my tank now but I really want to add another goby now that I have moved into my 180.
Can I add another goby or should i find someone else to sift the sand?

sand sifting fish have a "dark side": they provide sand storms and deplete beneficial organisms from your sand bed. YWG or any commensal shrimp (with pistol shrimp) will not sift the sand. And sand sifters do not really keep your sand bed clean.
Only since I highly trust your opinion snorvich I have one more stocking question to bother you with lol. So I have a 29 fowlr with only a blue dot puffer ( should have added him later but I am a somewhat newb and got conned into buying at the lfs). But regardless, i would like to add these three which you said would probably work earlier ( six line, Flame angel and either picasso,snowflake or saddleback clown) . Which order would you add them now since the puffer is already in the tank? Thanks so much snorvich!

1 flame angelfish - I'm just in love with the vibrant color it would add to my tank. Would a blue flasher wrasse be a suitable replacement? Or a bicolor blenny as a last resort?

Okay, I've tweaked my fish wish list a bit. I'm listing in order that I would add to the tank. 36g Elos tank with sump,skimmer, fuge, ATS.
1. Barnacle Blenny
2. Citron Goby (maybe or another goby type...preferably on the small side)
3. Swissguard Basslet
4. Pink Skunk Clown and/or Lemon Peel Angel (would both be too much bioload and would they get along with each other as both are semi-aggressive?)
I have decided to forgo SPS in this tank so I can house a LP angel. I have heard that they eat mainly SPS. I enjoy LPS and softeis much more so would they be safer in a LPS/softies tank? I am willing to tank a risk as I would like some type of dwarf angel.

Fish purchase list for 55 gallon fowlr. Im sticking to 1 - 2 inch of fish per gallon based on adult size.
1 yellowtail damsel
1 blue devil damsel
1 green chromi
1 perc clown
1 yellow tang
1 dwarf flame angel
1 copper banded butterfly
Total this should be approx 30 inch of fish full grown. I will alsohave an anenome, pepper mint shrimp and 2-3 snails.
This is all end tank and im a long way off. I would also like the option of maybe adding a couple hardy corals down the line. I do not use a sump either if this helps for eval
