I have a 36gal bowfront currently going through a fishless cycle, HOB filter(for the Qtank), 20H sump and 10gal refugium waiting to be added(and upgraded) as well as my protein skimmer waiting to be added.

My fish list is:
O.Clownfish (mated pair)
Pygmy Angel
Six Line Wrasse aggressive, you may regret it later

Just not sure which to add first, cause in my mind all 3 choices should be added to an established aquarium, not to a freshly cycled aquarium ...

The pygmy angel would do better adding to a more mature aquarium but any could be added once the cycle is complete. The clownfish are the most adaptable.

I just got done cycling. I have a 100G with 40B sump. the tank is 60L22H18W. Im about to add some cheato and get some pods living in the tank so that I can get a mandarin. But for now im thinking two fancy clowns and a yellow tang. Is this good for a starter? it will be my first ever SW tank. I have a ReefOctopus150 and a DeepBlue 1350 Return pump with dual corner overflows. Once I ungrade to more/better lights I will be interested in some coral/anems. Just a 48" dual T5 right now. All water parms are reading perfect as of right now. Doing my first water change (30 gallons) tmrw. Any advice would be great! Also thinking maybe a starfish or a some kind of crab?

You would do best to add the yellow tang as the very last fish added. Once established, they are very territorial to additions.

I personally dislike and do not recommend crabs as they are opportunistic feeders

I have a 60 gallon w/ 40 gallon sump, SPS dominant with this list in mind:

mated pair of ocellaris
yasha shrimp goby w/ red banded pistol shrimp
carpenter's flasher wrasse
1 or 2 others, undecided

I was hoping you could recommend some possibilities for the last 1 or 2 and also what would be the best order of addition. LiveAquaria recommended putting the wrasse in first to not get harassed by others but I wanted to get your take with an overall plan before putting in any of them

Thanks

Hi Steve.

I currently have the following stock in my 90g tank + 35g sump (90lbs live rock):

2 clowns
3 bangaii cardinals
3 firefish

I really wanted to add a yellow tang and I wrote to you previously and you replied back "they may become aggressive and depending on what fish, may give your new comer a problem".

I've even read somewhere else that they might attack my firefish and disrupt the peace.

So now I'm thinking - How about a kole tang instead of a yellow one? Would it be less aggressive in nature? Would it require the same type of care as a yellow tang?

Thanks

There's been a slight change in plans. I bought what was labeled as Filamented Fin Flasher, but it turns out that it is a Longfin Fairy Wrasse. Below is the current stocking and future plans, do you see any issues?

I have a 90g currently stocked with:
1x Occy Clown
1x Yellow Watchman
1x Longfinned Fairy wrasse

Future Plans:
1x Black and White Clown
1x Yellow Tang
1x wrasse TBD (suggestions?)

As those who follow this thread know, I do not provide recommendations for a variety of reasons. Flasher wrasses should go in first as LA recommends. They are jumpers so you need a mesh top. You have room for a couple of small fish, ideally pair the flasher wrasse as one of them.

a Kole tang is preferred

My tank is a 65g tall FOWLR and is currently stocked with:
2 Ocellaris clowns (1 black, 1 orange)
1 Firefish

I'm not 100% sure on what I want in the end but I was thinking:
1 Coral Beauty
1 Royal Gramma
Possibly a tang? On a previous post someone mentioned a Kole tang or even a Convict (I thought that would be too big for my tank). I've also heard that 2 firefish cannot live together, so a purple firefish would be out of the question, right?

Would these work? Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks (:

both would work fine

firefish that are paired can live together. Your tank is not really suitable for any tang, unfortunately.

only RC staff answer this particular thread. For general answers, post in Reef Fish

Thanks (:

Caribbean Blue Throat Pikeblenny

any info on this fish? diet? requirements?

I used to see (and photograph them) them in colonies when I was diving St. Vincent. Shallow water, sand bottom. I have never kept them in aquaria but would guess they would eat mysis or small fish.

Hey guys ^^ Im new here so would just like to say all you guys do a great job in helping people with these fishes!
Would be really great full if you could help me with this problem.
I have a 48inchx24inchx24inch Marine FOWLR aquarium, protein skimmer, good filtration ect.
Current stock is;
Zebra moray eel
Flame angel
Yellow tang
Humbug damsel
Jewel puffer
Inverts- Sand sifting starfish and a skunk cleaner shrimp
Now my question is that they have a gorgeous Regal angel (red sea - yellow bellied) down my LFS. Would I be able to add this into my tank?
Its only 3 inches now so is pretty young. Will the other fishes have any problems with the regal? Also what is good foods for the regal to eat?
Thank you for your time guys :)

I normally do not provide opinions on aggressive tanks. However, it is very likely the yellow tang will harass the regal angel excessively.

New 125 stocking

New 125 stocking

I'm moving my Colombian sharks catfish and antennata lionfish into their own tank soon and would like to fill the gap. Which will leave a banded sleeper goby and tomini tang along with the snails and corals.

I would like to add the following:

Lamark's Angel
Dispar Anthias
3x Blue reef chromis
Black cap basslet

Fire shrimp
Skunk shrimp
2x Peppermint shrimp

Lamark's Angel
Dispar Anthias
3x Blue reef chromis will likely winnow down until only one or two.
Black cap basslet

assuming the lionfish and catfish have moved, the stocking list should be fine

Fire shrimp
Skunk shrimp
2x Peppermint shrimp

Ah okay thank you very much! :) would you know if the tank size is ok for the regal though? And would it have any other issues with other inhabitants? I'm also planning to upgrade to a 6x2x2ft aquarium in about 3 years, so I assume this would be okay for the regal and the other inhabitants?
cheers :) :fish2:

Tank will be a 180g fowlr w/ 75g sump setup for a fuge, return, skimmer. Skimmer will be rated up to 300-400 gallons given the heavy bioload. There will be no corals and only a small CUC to eat any left over food/algae. CUC will be mostly hermits and some snails.

I plan on doing a 2-3" sandbed throughout and having an EHEIM 1262 as return w/ 2 Koralia PH (3000 gph) each on the opposite side wall. The tank is 72 x 24 x 24 w/ a single overflow on the left most wall.

This is my stocking list idea, open to recommendations/suggestions. I plan on doing the rockwork centered in the display to provide ample swimming from in the rear and front of the tank.

1. Sustainable Aquatics Black Ice Clown Pair (already have 2.5")
2. Flame Angel (already have 2")
3. Hippo Tang (already have 1.5")
4. Kole Yellow Eye Tang (already have 3")
5. Pink Spot Goby (already have 3")
6. Single Blue Chromis (had 3, down to 1 that is 2")
7. Black Cap Basslet (already have 3", might get rid of it)
8. 3? or 5? Lyretail Anthias, (prefer 5, but will do 3)
9. Midas Blenny or Tailspot Blenny (have tailspot, but he is MIA)
10. 2 x Pakistan Butterflyfish
11. Green Mandarin
12. Magnificent Foxface (not necessary, but would make a nice addition)
13. Emperor Angelfish - Juvenile (want to watch it change)
14. Queen Angelfish
15. Majestic Angelfish (not necessary, but do like)
16. White Cheek/Powder Blue Tang (very last fish)
17. Orange-Back Fairy Wrasse
18. Exquisite Fairy Wrasse
19. Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse
20. Scott's Fairy Wrasse
21. McCosker's Flasher Wrasse
22. Moorish Idol (probably not since they're difficult to keep fed)
24. Cleaner Shrimp (have)
25. Blood Shrimp (have)
26. Yellow tang (maybe?)

Thanks for looking, this is my first FOWLR tank so I am excited.
