Thanks, really think these will be great fish to keep. Any suggestions on how to and when to introduce them, like a specific order? And also, any advice on care for the Regal Angel and a different fish to replace the blue tang?

I would not replace the Hepatus tang as you will have sufficient largish fish. The rule is most aggressive last which means the yellow tang MUST be last or it will preclude some other fish. Regal angels are tricky (there is a separate thread on these in reef fish under BrianD's general sticky.) I have kept them but always got a red sea regal which is easier to get eating.

What I want to add.

I currently have a 180litre tank... And I have a juvie orange shoulder tang. I know it's too small so I've upgraded to a seven foot tank which will be coming in 2 weeks time. It is seven foot, by 2 foot, by 18 inches, plus 4 foot sump. What other tangs can I keep with my orange shoulder? I'd quite like a regal and a powder blue. Has to be safe with corals. Thanks!

Once you have upgraded, either should be fine.

Well, it has been done by one of our members who specializes in dwarf angels. In my opinion, three in a 75 gallon is a roll of the dice with the odds against. You specified "or" rather than "and".

Probably fine but try to introduce both centropyge simultaneously after QT

I have a 90gal mixed reef with softies lps and sps. I am thinking about adding 2 paired clowns either percula or cinnamon. The percs would be rather small where as the cinnamon's would be the largest fish in my tank 3-4", not sure they are mated but they are in the same tank and are getting along. May be male/female or male/male can't tell. The tank is currently stocked with the following:

1 blue fin damsel approx 2"
1 Hippo Tang 2"
3 Pajama cardinals 1"

Would either pair work?

Is my tank pretty much done fish wise? I wanted to add a few more little fish or maybe another bigger looking fish if i could. But I'm not sure. so if anyone has any input or advice or maybe a fish recommendation that would be helpful....

You have three aggressive damsels which may make it difficult to add fish. Cinnamon clowns once sexually mature will also be aggressive, Percula less so but still somewhat aggressive once mating .

This thread is an expert thread answered only by Reef Central staff. If you want general opinions, the Reef Fish forum will provide those. The mystery wrasse may be aggressive towards some other fish especially other wrasses or copepod eaters. People who follow this thread know that I do not provide recommendations for a variety of reasons. I am however happy to provide compatibility analysis if you provide a stocking list.

I have a fairly passive tank right now, and I don’t want to rock the boat, so to speak. I would like to add 1 final fish that will provide some “motion” to the tank. Would 1 of these hogfish be suitable:

Bodianus bimaculatus (yellow candy hogfish)
Bodianus sepiacaudus/masudai (pacific redstripe hogfish)


Or would I be better off to add one of these fairy wrasses?

Cirrhilabrus rhomboidalis (Rhomboid)
Cirrhilabrus filamentosus (whip fin)
Cirrhilabrus rubrimarginatus (pink margin)
Cirrhilabrus lineatus (lineatus)


My CUC consists of snails and 1 large cleaner shrimp – I understand that smaller shrimp may be “meals of wheel”s for the hogfish, but I can live with that as long as they pose no threat to my other livestock/corals.
