I have a 75 gallon with a 55 gallon sump/refugium. Alot of Negative space in my tank. Fish can swim the front half of the tank uninterrupted and rock work in the back with plenty of hiding places.

I have one occelaris clownfish, the other died so Im going to add another to make it a pair again

I have one yellow tail damsel

Purple tang (I understand a larger tank is desirable), larger tank is hopefully on the horizon before the tang reaches a size that would make him uncomfortable in my current set up.

From here I only plan to potentially add (over time):

-On the fense with a sand sifting Goby (heard they will essentially clear out the live sand and no long be live?)
-Flame angel
-Black cap Basslet
-Dispar anthias
-a jawfish..blue dot or maybe a yellow head
-mandarin
-cleaner wrasse
-cleaner crew/shrimp/snails etc

Then heavy on Corals.

I have one yellow tail damsel will limit tank mates as they are aggressive

Size is not the issue, territorial imperative is the issue which will result in aggressive behavior to others in the same ecological niche

-Flame angel the purple tang may or may not allow this fish to be introduced. I would say the odds are against
-Black cap Basslet
-Dispar anthias
-a jawfish..blue dot or maybe a yellow head a blue spot jawfish requires cool temperatures to survive long term so that is probably going to be problematic
-mandarin after tank is 9 months mature
-cleaner wrasse undesirable as you do not have sufficient clients (many fish will not allow cleaning) and cleaner wrasses do not eat parasites
-cleaner crew/shrimp/snails etc

The remaining clown I DO have is pretty small itself (it was the smaller of the pair). So i need to find one smaller than it?

or would it be best to see if my LFS owner would let me trade him my existing clown for another new one/and purchase an additional one that would make a better matted pair?

Give me size in inches, please, and I will try to figure that out. How long have you had this clownfish? My concern is that you may have had two clownfish that were both progressing towards being a female and if that were the case, would explain why one was killed.

I've had him approximately a year some change. Id say hes around 2 inches.

Definitely has begun sexual differentiation and is "prefemale". You must get one smaller, ideally about an inch and a half max, preferably one inch.

the larger clown was killed when I crashed my tank with excessive ammonia..Lost the clown and 4 other fish.

Thank you very much for your help. I'll be sure to be careful with my selection of the new clown when the time comes.

You are welcome. No problem.

Tank is a 60gallon cube mixed reef.
I'm looking for others thoughts on keeping an ember blenny and a barred blenny together. Possible issues with doing this?

This thread is answered only by Reef Central Staff. If you want general opinions try the Reef Fish Forum. To answer your question, blennies do not like each other since they occupy the same ecological niche. Since you have a smallish tank, more than one is not long term stable.

180 DT
75 Sump

Current inhabitants:
2 Ocellaris Clowns
2 Bangaii Cardinals
3 Peppermint Shrimp
2 Scarlet skunk shrimp
(+snails)

Would like to get the following in my QT to introduce in 6-8 weeks (my QT is 40gB):
(Would it be okay to QT the foxface and goby together or should it be separate in sequence?)
Bluespotted Watchman
Foxface

--- or

9 Anthias (likely lyretails -- will I be able to QT 9 of these in a 40gB? or what would be the largest school size of these I could QT in that size tank at a time? -- If I QT'ed 4 and then added 5 in sequence would this be an acceptable introduction method - assuming 9 wouldn't work simultaneously?)

Thanks!

It should be since they do not occupy the same ecological niche.

this one is harder. I would split them, probably as you suggest.

Thanks!
