I'd rather not bother with the chromis if that will be the likely outcome. Any suggestions to make an interesting addition to this group? I'm open to anything at this point.

As those that follow this thread know, I do not provide recommendations for a variety of reasons. However I am always happy to reevaluate any stocking list as long as you provide the complete plan including tank size.

Okay Ive got one for ya.
Ive got a 29g biocube. Soft & lps coral. Currently stocked with two occelaris clownfish, a skunk cleaner shrimp & CUC.
I would like to add: sifter goby/pistol shrimp pair & a candy hogfish.
Currently running Purigen, Carbon, Phosguard, filter floss, & nitrate reducing pad. Have a plan to get a HOB skimmer when I upgrade the lighting. What do you think? Too much? I would not add the hogfish until I get my skimmer running.

I did read that - guess the goby will be working hard to protect his buddy! Lol jk. Im hoping if they are already established shrimp then it will be okay. Besides that I read they typically go after small shrimp....is the pistol very small? Will have to look into this further. Thanks!
Due to the nature of the symbiotic relationship between shrimp gobies and pistol shrimp, the pistol shrimp should not be at risk as it would be protected. However, peppermint shrimp, sexy shrimp, cleaner shrimp, may become dinner. Not all pistol shrimp are commensal so if you introduce Alpheus soror or other noncommensal shrimp, they would be at risk.

180 mixed reef display, 75sump w/ designated low flow fuge w/ well established pod population. Tank is about a year and a half established.

should be no problem but the powder blue may not like company. I always suggest one fish at a time but if sufficient pvc is available for shelter, you should be ok. No issues with existing stock.

Based on your earlier advice, I made a revised list (with a couple replacements).
55 gal tank (48" length), no sump, HOB fuge, HOB skimmer and power filter. Standard CUC from Reefcleaners with snails and hermits.
This is my planned order to add:
1. pair of ocellaris clowns, tank bred
2. firefish, helfrichi
3. clown goby, citrinis
4. carpenter's flasher wrasse (I have a screen top)
5. flame angelfish -- provided I have enough algae, wouldn't add for another 12 months
I totaled this as 16" of adult fish. Is that too much for a 55 gal tank? If so, I would probably not add the wrasse. I know the flame angel is pushing it, but I REALLY want one if I can make him/her happy in my tank.

May I ask - if I chose not to go with the goby/shrimp pair and instead went for a lawn mower blenny. Would that be okay in a tank without much hair algae at all? Will they eat cyano at all? What would I supplement their food with? Thanks! ---feel like such a newbie asking these simple questions however, since I only have the 29g biocube Ive not had many fish!
Unfortunately, I am going to have to ask you to list them here along with the tank size. I cannot really work with that type of attachment.
They will not eat cyano. If you go with an algae grazer, in this sized tank you would need to supply nori.
