Purple Firefish
Yellow Tang needs a larger tank what is min tank size for it?
Blue Hermit Crab dwarf or regular? I believe dwarf though I haven't seen him in months
Orange Clown
Black Clown
Nassarius snails
Nerite snails

Desired fish:
Algae Blenny OR Black Sailfin Blenny OR any type that eats hair algae I am not sure it will solve your hair algae problem, but a sailfin blenny would be fine So does that mean NO on algae blenny?
another purple fire fish will not coexist with another firefish - I originally had 2 and one died.
Yellowtail Damselfish - 2
Green Mandarin OR Green Clown Goby clown goby would be fine

Hi! Brand new to the hobby and have obtained a mature tank from a friend. It's a 90 gal main tank (48"w, 18"d, 24"h), with a 30 gal sump. Lots of of live rock (unsure of exact lbs) with many caves/crevices but still have a bunch of empty free swimming space. Also, I do not have a tight fitting cover on the tank. Current fish have been together happy for many months with previous owner and have settled in nicely here.

Can you please provide your thoughts on the below plan, and any input on the order of additions? I am getting some advice from a local LFS that contradicts some of what I have found online and want to ensure I stock responsibly :)

Current stock:
1 pretty mature Ocellaris Clown
2 Pyjama Cardinals
1 Bicolor Blenny
1 Watchman Goby

Possible Additions:
1 juvenile Ocellaris Clown for my current clown
1 Chalk Bass
1 Yellow Tail Damsel
1 Orchid Dottyback
1 Coral Beauty Angel (I know that this one would need to be watched as may cause issues with corals, which I have a small amount of)
1 Yellow Tang (my LFS said I can have multiple tangs, and suggested the Blue Tang too "“ but I'm concerned I don't have adequate space to keep it happy"¦)

Thanks so much for your help!

Hi,
I've got a 29 gal. Biocube with 30lbs liverock and sand.
Currently I have two Ocellaris Clowns, a Yasha Goby, Pistol Shrimp, and Cleaner Shrimp.
I want to get a Royal Gramma. Will he butt heads with the Goby?
Thanks

I've posted once in here. Your statements above about clowns being territorial has got me thinking. I don't have any fish yet. I have

75 Gallon Tank
RO BH-90 skimmer
BRS dual carbon/gfo reactor
Coralife turbotwist 18w
Hydor Koralia 1150s x 2
Reefbreeders Photon 48
100 or so pounds of live rock.
140 pds fine aragonite sand.

I have presently

2 Skunk cleaner Shrimp
2 Emerald crabs
1 Strawberry Crab(quite peaceful and shy)
1 Pom-pom crab(I think. Haven't seen him since intro)
3 Astra snails
3 Nassarius Snails
Some Orange Ricordia and some green mushrooms on rocks

My fish plan was to buy in pairs to around 8 fish, introducing between 6-8 weeks apart to make sure the tank can handle them

2 x ocellaris
royal gramma and Baggai Cardinal
1 Fairy and 1 Flasher wrasse
coral beauty and flame angel(I know about these two).

I am going to try to buy all juveniles. Question--does that order of buying work? Do I actually need to move the ocellaris to later?

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this hobby and I'm starting with my existing wall mounted 20 gallon tank. The tank is 15in tall, 59in long and 5in wide. The main display is 51in. There are 2 side compartments (one on each side) with about 4x5x15 each. I put a eshopps nano skimmer on the left with a power pump underneath to make sure water will flow in from the main display, and I put 2 small bags of bioballs there too. On the other side I put a Fluval U4. The U4 has 3 compartments in sandwich style, a bioball compartment in the middle and filter media on 2 sides. I replace those filter media with Purigen on 1 side and Chemi Pure Elite on the other. I also have 2 Jebao WP10 wavemakers, one on each side. The one on the right is making 1/2in high wave, and the one on the left is on Else S2 mode (which creates random pattern flow and pushing out around 500gph). I just added Green Killing Machine UV 9W.

The tank has live sand bottom of about 1-2in. has about 15lbs of live rocks and small coral. I currently have a cleaner shrimp and a longpike urchin in there. I've started this tank about 2 months ago, and I get Diatoms 2 times already, which killed some fishes. The urchin and the cleaner shrimp survived all that, amazing. I cleaned everything up and added the Purigen and CPE in my tank about 2 weeks ago and notice great water improvement.

My question would be how long should I wait till I can add fishes again. I still have some Diatoms and some Cyano right now. My water is as follow:

NO3: 20

NO2: 0

PH: 8.5

KH: 120

GH: 180

gravity: 1.025

Should I use any trace supplements? I do weekly water change of 20%. I plan to add:

Pajamas Cardinal x1

Banggai Cardinal x1

Firefish x1

Ocellaris Clown x1

small coral (undecided) x1

Would this be ok? Total flow rate of my tank right now is above 2000gph, do you think this is a little too much?

Sorry for keeping you reading this long, but I'm new and I need your professional opinion.

Thank you very much for your time.

1 Yellow Tang (my LFS said I can have multiple tangs, and suggested the Blue Tang too "“ but I'm concerned I don't have adequate space to keep it happy"¦) you can have one of the bristle tooth tangs. Your LFS is selling fish and either does not know or does not care if you are going to succeed with those recommendations. P. hepatus needs a much larger tank, and a yellow tang also needs a larger tank

Thanks so much for your help!

Should I use any trace supplements? I do weekly water change of 20%. I plan to add: in a 20 gallon tank, you could do one of the cardinals and a firefish or alternatively, but marginally, a pair of clownfish (A. ocellaris) instead.

Pajamas Cardinal x1

Banggai Cardinal x1

Firefish x1

Ocellaris Clown x1

small coral (undecided) x1

Thank you very much for your time.

Exquisite fairy wrasse was the plan. I thought all fairy wrasses were okay? Are there some I need to be concerned about?

Don't worry. I have a 20 gallon QT in my stand. Even cycling it.

All fairy wrasses are not equal! But an exquisite will be fine

Current
3 kauderns cardinals only two will survive (hopefully they are tank raised)
Longnose Hawkfish not shrimp safe
Firefish

Proposed additions
Purple firefish only one per this sized tank
Blue Chromis be sure it is healthy as they are susceptible to uronema

Kole Tang
Yellow Tang needs a larger tank) - both Tangs introduced together last

only one tang in this sized tank for long term success
