Nothing purchased yet... dreaming about the big move up to SW:

Tank size: 90 gal or 120 gal
55gal sump/refugium
Zoas/LPS initially; potential for SPS down the line

Idea for livestock, in order of addition to tank:

Clean Up Crew Package
A few shrimp
Yellow Tang
watchman goby
bicolor blenny
2x yellow tail damselfish
Pair Ocellaris clown fish

.......

After the tank is well established:
Copper Band Butterfly
Bubble Anemone

Other than the yellow tailed damsels, (which I do not recommend because of aggression), the list is fine.

You have:

3" yellow tang -- inappropriate to a nano, requires a much larger tank and will be hyper aggressive because it will feel cramped
6 line wrasse -- aggressive, especially in a small tank
flame angel
3" maroon -- very aggressive, especially in a small tank
2 firefish -- unless a male + female, not long term viable but certainly not with a sixline which will intimidate them eventually into starvation.

Basically, giving you advice would not be useful to you given that you have a base that will be a problem; if you remove the tang, sixline, and maroon clown that would put you back on the right track.

oh wow, i didn't think it would that big a problem. I do feel the tang is cramped, but my wife insist and i can't avoid it. as a matter a fact, she wanted a bigger one.

sounds like the biggest issue is the small tank. I too hate that little tank. But again i have to deal with my wife when it comes to aquariums. maybe with this, my wife will let me upgrade sooner than later. thanks for the advice!

Thinking of adding a Powder Brown and a Sailfin Tang to a 90. This is a mixed reef with SPS, LPS and Softies. Inhabitants are:
Black Osc. Clowns 2
3 Pajama Cardinals
3 damsels
Lawn Mower Blenny
Cleaner Shrimp
Peppermint shrimp
Green serpent
Banded Serpent

Final Fish stock list for future 46G bowfront:

2 Ocelleris Clownfish - one will be a b&w Ocelleris Clownfish
2 Bangaii or PJ Cardinalfish (M & F)
2 Blueline Chromis
Possum Wrasse
Royal Gramma

Either :

1 Clown Goby - either Citrinis or Green

OR

2 or 3 Greenbanded Goby

Multicolor Dwarf Angelfish (last fish added)

Once I have gained enough experience, I'd like to add a Madarin Dragonette. How difficult are they to have? What are the requirements?

We do not recommend 2 tangs in a 90 gallon tank and in fact do not recommend either a sailfin tang or a powder brown in a 90 gallon tank in any case.

2 Ocelleris Clownfish - one will be a b&w Ocelleris Clownfish
2 Bangaii or PJ Cardinalfish (M & F)
2 Blueline Chromis chromis are not coming in healthy but in any case 2 is likely to become 1
Possum Wrasse
Royal Gramma

2 or 3 Greenbanded Goby

Multicolor Dwarf Angelfish (last fish added)

If you add up all it is a bit much for a 46 gallon tank

Once I have gained enough experience, I'd like to add a Madarin Dragonette. How difficult are they to have? What are the requirements?

the issue is feeding. Even if a dragonette eats frozen, their metabolism is designed around eating constantly and they are notoriously poor "hunters" so they can not easily compete with tank mates.

Okay - maybe the best thing for me is to hold off on the Chromis until they fix the problem of them not coming in healthy.

What are your thoughts on the Pink-Streaked Wrasse instead of the Possum Wrasse?

What can I replace with the Chromis?

The dragonette is now off my list due to their difficulty in feeding them. Beautiful fish no doubt.

My stocking list for my new FOWLR 180 gallon tank - 72X24X24 - Thanks in advanced

A pair of Sustainable Aquatics Black Clown
A pair of Blue Throat Triggerfish (Xanthichthys auromarginatus)
1 - Yellow Belly Regal Blue Tang (Paracanthurus hepatus var.)
1 - Chevron Tang (Ctenochaetus hawaiiensis)
1 - Emperor Angelfish (Pomacanthus imperator)
1 - Auriga Butterflyfish (Chaetodon auriga)
1 - Red Sea Purple Tang (Zebrasoma xanthurum)
1 - Magnificent Foxface (Siganus magnificus)
1 False Personifer Angelfish (Chaetodontoplus meredithi) (if possible)

How many fish can I introduce at once?

Yes, we have not been able to figure out why either. Uronema among other problems.

excellent fish but you can never introduce a sixline or cousin thereof

What can I replace with the Chromis?

Hello, I want to add one final fish to my tank, I have a 34g tank and 5.5g sump. I have some small corals and want to get more so the fish needs to be reef safe.

Right now I have:
two ocellaris clowns
citron goby
neon goby
watchman goby

I was looking to add one of these hopefully if the bioload won't be too high.

firefish - leaning most towards this
dwarf flame angel
yellow prawn goby + pistol shrimp

Thanks!

As I mentioned, some of those fish are inappropriate for your sized tank. As such I can not really provide effective advice with that stocking list.

Hi,

Here's the list that we agreed on no?

A pair of Sustainable Aquatics Black Clown
1 - Chevron Tang (Ctenochaetus hawaiiensis)
1 - Emperor Angelfish (Pomacanthus imperator)
1 - Auriga Butterflyfish (Chaetodon auriga)
1 - Red Sea Purple Tang (Zebrasoma xanthurum)
1 - Magnificent Foxface (Siganus magnificus)
3 - Resplendent Anthias (Pseudanthias pulcherrimus)
1 - Flame Angelfish (Centropyge loriculus)
1 - Multicolor Angelfish (Centropyge multicolor)

The firefish is best and most interesting, but any other symbiotic goby such as a yellow prawn goby would almost certainly be a problem.

Yes, but that was not the list you supplied. I would insure that that the P. imperator was introduced as a juvenile first and the auriga can go in early along with the P. imperator. The two dwarf angels must be quarantined and introduced together although in a 180 it is less critical. I would make sure the purple tang and chevron are introduced together last. Generally I try to introduce fish in pairs so any potential aggression will be defused and not focus on a single new comer.

I'm sorry. Are you implying that the Pick Streaked Wrasse is okay to add or are you saying they're just aggressive as the Six Line?

No, pink streaked wrasses are not at all aggressive. However, if you add a sixline or one of a sixline's first cousins such as a 4 line, they will be aggressive towards the pink streaked wrasse. I must have been unclear, sorry.

Thank you for clearing it up for me. Now I have a good idea what to stock in my 46G tank:

1 Ocelleris Clownfish (tank-bred)
1 B & W Ocelleris Clownfish (tank-bred)
2 Bangaii or PJ Cardinalfish
1 Clown Goby (either the Citrinis or Green)
1 Possum Wrasse or Pink Streak Wrasse
1 Royal Gramma
1 Multicolor Dwarf Angelfish (last fish added)

Now for my Inverts:

2 or 3 Peppermint Shrimp
1 Scarlet Skunk Shrimp
1 Blue Tuxedo Urchin

If I had a choice instead of the Scarlet Skunk Shrimp, I'd love to have a Blue Coral Banded Shrimp. Not sure if Coral Banded Shrimp play nice with other species of shrimp because I'm hearing different opinions.

although NOT the subject of this thread, coral banded shrimp can take fish

I want to add a sexy shrimp!

I want to add a sexy shrimp!

Ok so right now I have a mini carpet anemone, green star polyps, green button polyps(or zoas, people tell me both names), a kenya tree and some mushrooms. Will my sexy shrimp attack the zoas? I also have a domino damsel and sailfin tang. I want the shrimp to host the mini carpet :)... cuc is assorted snails and a few small hermits
