A 60" 100 gallon LPS dominated mixed reef

1 ocellaris clown
1 blue flasher wrasse
1 solon wrasse may have issues with your flasher wrasse, they are one of the more aggressive fairy wrasses
1 midas blenny
1 tailspot blenny
1 flame fin tang
1 pyramid butterfly
1 bangai cardinal
1 royal gramma
1 purple firefish

I think all the fish are going to be compatible, but if you see any issues please let me know. I am running a skimmer, GFO reactor and carbon. Please comment on the bioload too.

note comment. Otherwise fine.

I have a 20g high, 10g sump divided up into about a 6g refugium, and the other 4g is two compartments for the return pump and intake. I currently don't have a skimmer though I plan to get one. I have a fluval u2 with chemipure elite and purigen jammed in one of the compartments of the sump. When i can get a skimmer it will most likely be an aquaticlife 115, tunze nano doc, or cpr bak-pak2.

1 75w heater in the refugium, 1 100w heater in the sump intake area. Water stays 78.6-78.9. RapidLED heatsink with 4 cool white, 4 royal blue, 2 uv, 2 red, and 2 green. Will be adding 4 more cool white, 4 royal blue, 2 uv, and dimmable driver. Return pump is a mag3, 350gph. Small 150gph pump that circulates the refugium. 100w compact fluorescent over the refugium.

Live rock from an established tank in the display and refugium. Arag-alive fiji pink in display, coarse crushed coral in refugium.

Display livestock:
Coral Banded Shrimp
3 red tip dwarf hermit crabs
1 tiger trochus snail
1 tan colored astrea
1 head hammer coral
1 head torch coral
3 plugs of assorted color zoanthids, totalling about 30 polyps
1 star polyp
1 fluorescent green trumpet or candy cane(i think it's trumpet)
several stalks of pinkish colored xenia

Refugium livestock:
2 red tip dwarf hermits
1 peppermint shrimp(will add another 1 or 2 later)
1 snail of unknown species(round spiral shell)
Assortment of algae from another person's refugium.

I would like to add an occ clown pair, and a 2 spot goby. Also probably 1 more snail in refugium, and 1 more snail in display.

Any thoughts?

If you add a pair of A. occelaris that is pretty much all you will be able to suitably house. In any case your environment is not suitable for a two spot goby even if there were no clownfish.

If 3 fish is too much that's fine, but what is wrong with the tank for a 2 spot goby? That wasn't the objection i was expecting.

The number of fish is an issue but not the issue. A pair of clownfish of any species will want to control a minimum of 25 gallons, with some species wanting to control more (think GSM clowns). Assuming peaceful tank mates, keeping a two spot goby is very difficult, even in a large tank, (and your clownfish will not be peaceful once sexually mature). In a small tank, it is virtually impossible to achieve long term success with this fish.

Hmmm, will they be territorially aggressive against the coral banded shrimp too? I know the shrimp will protect it's little corner.

75g stocking

75g stocking

I have a 75g with 20L sump in which 1/3 of the sump will be a refugium with a 4" sand bed once my cycle is complete. I have 85.5 lbs of rock in the DT. My original plan was a FOWLR but after seeing some of the reef tanks I decided to add the fish first then add corals as I go and learn about them. I had originally posted a proposed fish list but it was recommended I cut it back so here it is revised...

The must have:
(1) - Flame Angelfish - it will be added last.

The remaining occupants not in order of introduction. I will introduce the more peaceful species first:

(2) - Black & White Ocellaris Clownfish - this one is still undecided
(1) - Royal Gramma Basslet
(1) - Firefish ( dartfish)
(1) - Pacific Redstrip Hogfish
(1) - Orange-back Fairy Wrasse

I would also like to add
(1) - Blue Damselfish if it works but I think it will be too much.

the fish will be added 1 or 2 a month until the list is complete so as to give the tank to catch up with filtration.

Your thoughts and comments on this list is welcome.

Thanks in advance.

(1) - Royal Gramma Basslet
(1) - Firefish ( dartfish) should be first
(1) - Pacific Redstrip Hogfish not invert safe
(1) - Orange-back Fairy Wrasse sightly on the aggressive side

I would also like to add

if the flame angle is no good what about the pigmy? or maybe a kole or a white tail bristle tooth tang?

Thanks for the heads up on the fire and hog fish. Is there something you might suggest to replace the hogfish?

no dwarf angel is truly reef safe although pigmy angels are better than most

or maybe a kole or a white tail bristle tooth tang? either one would work

As those who follow this thread know, I never make suggestions for a variety of reasons.

Yes. Actually coral banded shrimp can take fish.

I honestly don't know what to believe on coral banded shrimp. The information i've read about them is wildly different. The situation i would hope for is that the cbs would stay in his hiding spot during lights on time, while the clowns control the tank, then at night when the clowns are resting the cbs would roam around and scavenge.

Noone says you have to believe what I say or take my advice.

Just put the live rock in my 125g DT + 65g sump/fuge. Got 180lb rock 140lb sand (about 2 inches DT + 2-3 inch fuge). Here is what I was looking at:

Fish:
Tang of some kind x1 (either Brown Scopas for utility or something colorful for looks)
Pipefish x1-2
Cardinalfish x3 (I hear packs are better?)
Chalk Basslet x3 (I hear packs are better?)
Mated Ocellaris Clowns x2/Mated
Firefish Dartfish x1-2/Mated
Foxface x1?
Watchman Goby x1
Yellowhead Jawfish

Inverts:
Pistol Shrimp
Cleaner Shrimp
Fire/Peppermint Shrimp
Red Serpent Star
Nassarius Snails
Lettuce Sea Slug
Blue Leg Hermit

Note: I do have the 65g sump with a 25g of that being a fuge. Could put something is it might be an issue in that area.

Pipefish x1-2 unless you have experience with these fish, I would wait until you do
Cardinalfish x3 (I hear packs are better?) male female pairs are best
Chalk Basslet x3 (I hear packs are better?)
Mated Ocellaris Clowns x2/Mated
Firefish Dartfish x1-2/Mated should be introduced first
Foxface x1? if you have a tang, I would not add a second grazer and these are not necessarily reef safe in all circumstances
Watchman Goby x1
Yellowhead Jawfish

I just upgraded from a 20g with live rock and only a Tank-Bred Ocellaris Clownfish. I had some problems with things on the live rock and fire bristle worms (I caught one and took it to the saltwater specialist person and he identified them). So I had to cure the live rock for 2 months and then decided to upgrade the tank to a bigger tank.

I now have a 60g with about 65 lbs of rock and about 3 inches of live sand

I have a good setup but my mom refuses to let my drill through the wall to add a refugium so no refugium :) but I do have a skimmer, large filter and a small mesh lid
The tank cycled for about 6 weeks and has the clown, a yellow clown goby, warpaint goby, royal gramma basslet, red scooter blenny, a kole tang and 3 chromis (I have had them for more than a month and they haven't killed each other off yet) I want to add a dwarf angel and couldn't decide between a coral beauty and a flame angel with the fish listed above what would be the best choice? I only have 1 ritteri anemone and no corals

I also was considering a spiny blue lobster but I have a bunch of snails and two fighting conchs so would there be a problem between those? or the between the lobster and the scooter blenny?

My dad wants a kaudern cardinal fish should I go with one or two?
And I was thinking that I really like either the McCosker's Flasher Wrasse or would the exquisite wrasse be better?

Would that be too many?
What do think the max amount of fish would be?

What you are doing is wonderful because the people at my fish store just want me to buy the most expensive one :)

Bristle worms are a symptom of your over feeding. They are actually beneficial for cleanup.

your tank is not really large enough for any tang, and the 3 chromis will winnow down. Either dwarf angel would work, flames are gorgeous coloration

spiny lobsters are not fish safe

My dad wants a kaudern cardinal fish should I go with one or two? you are a bit loaded as it is, perhaps you should let the tank settle in and not buy additional fish for a while
