Wish I had seen this thread first. It would have been beneficial
Ok I have a 56 gal FOWLR, I do not have much live rock at the moment but I plan on adding more slowly. I already have a Blue Dot Toby, Ocellaris Clown, Foxface Lo and a Coral Beauty.

Puffers are not invert safe, foxface Lo require a much larger tank

Inverts one small brown hermit crab and two mexican turbo snails. My puffer leaves the crab alone and only mildly harrasses the snails, they are really too big for him to damage. give him time
I would love to add a few corals and maybe a fighting conch for some extra detris control.
What corals are the most puffer safe?
Is there a reef safe/puffer safe sea star? no, not really

Thanks in advance!

Ok thanks. By the way I misspoke so to speak, he is a one spot fox face, not the lo. Currently he is about 5 inches. If it seems that he is uncomfortable or no longer thriving I will look into finding him a new home. For now he is doing very well.
So as far as corals, are there any that would be safe with a toby puffer? (yes I realize that corals are inverts, just wondering if you skipped that part)

Well, probably not. The behavior you are describing is not really "doing well" but rehoming into a 125g or larger will help.

I skipped it only because this thread is only about marine fish compatibility. I am sure that a separate thread should get a lot of opinions.

29 Gallon Nano

The plan is:

2 Clown Fish
1 Mandarin (After the tank has been established for a lot longer)
1 Diamond Watchman

The tank has been cycled for two weeks.

Id like to get the Goby in there to start with the clean up process

a mandarin in this sized tank will require a bit of luck and exceptional effort since the tank will not produce sufficient copepods for longer term survival. While some mandarins will eat frozen nutramar ova or mysis, mandarins eat constantly, and most aquarists feed infrequently.

Yeah, I was sort of up in the air about that one, and I knew that.

I had a scooter blenny in the last 29 I had, and got pretty lucky that it ate frozen foods....MAN did it eat! LOL

I just like the Mandarin so much, Ill put it on the "tenative" list

Scooter blennies (which, of course, are not blennies at all) universally eat frozen and sometimes pellets so they are pretty safe to add to your tank.

I was thinking of adding a M/F pair of blue jaw triggers, but instead - would a male blue jaw be compatible with a niger if added together?

Thanks

As I indicated previously, any further questions would need to have the entire stocking list and tank size reiterated. There is no way I will be able to remember it among the many thousands of those replying to this thread. Stocking is never just one relationship, it is the entire package. Thanks for your understanding.

Sorry-Current list in a 280g FOWLR is:
3 chromis
pair of oscellaris
Cirrhilabrus exquisitus
Cirrhilabrus lineatus
Halichoeres claudia
Mimic tang
Blond naso tang
Magnificent fox face
Flame Angel

Future possible plans include:
Blue hippo tang or Kole tang
Harlequin Tusk
Bellus Angel
Blue face angel (or possibly goldflake?)

Revised question is whether 2 of the 3 of the following would likely be compatible with each other:
-blue jaw trigger
-niger trigger
-crosshatch trigger

Thanks again Steve. Have a great day!

Sorry-

No problem, my memory is just not able to handle so many responses.

Bellus Angel female, males are difficult shippers
Blue face angel (or possibly goldflake?) juvenile blue face is easier

Revised question is whether 2 of the 3 of the following would likely be compatible with each other:
-blue jaw trigger
-niger trigger this one is really a luck of the draw, sometimes, well behaved, other times, a terror but I personally would only put one trigger in your sized tank; Cross-hatch is a superb fish
-crosshatch trigger

Thanks again Steve. Have a great day!

I am in the planning stages of my upgrade still and have since acquired a 40g long 36". I will also have a sump.
I already have 2 false percs and a royal gramma with a fire shrimp.

I wish to add the following:
Scooter blenny (are they the same as a scooter dragonet?)
YWG with tiger pistol shrimp

Scooter blenny (are they the same as a scooter dragonet?) Yes. Most people still call them scooter blenny even though they are not blennies. Behavior and metabolism are dragonet-ish
YWG with tiger pistol shrimp

After your upgrade happens, this stocking list should be fine; in a 14 gallon, your current stocking list would be a problem

Hey guys n gals, my new tank is being setup for my dad's partner and there won't be anyone to take care off. So I m looking to add not very complicated fish. It would be an instant reef setup, no anemones , only fish. LR in the sump. Tank is semi cylindrical with 60" radius and height of 60". Should hold about 550 gallons (it's just a bow front) and not a full round. Please suggest a fish list in phases like first week, 2nd week etc, types and quantity. I don't want the aggressive ones though, like I said its in his office and access is very limited. So what goes in stays in ;) something easy and forgivable. Once he learns to identify we may upgrade

This thread is only answered by Reef Central staff and is only about Marine Fish Compatibility. As those who follow this thread know, I do not provide recommendations but would be happy to evaluate any stocking list. If you want suggestions, set up a separate thread in New to the Hobby or Marine fish and you will receive plenty of suggestions.

Going with a 12g Long and 10g sump.

Fish would include: Two Perc's
YWG/Shrimp Pair

Also what kind of clean up crew would I look at for this setup.

Thanks for the help Snorvich.

Well, a pair of clownfish will not be happy in a 12 gallon tank. For cleanup crew, choose between snails or hermit crabs but not a mixture.

I'm doing some research on a seahorse tank before I buy it I am trying to plan it all very in advance. Specifically right now what I am wondering is if I get 2 pairs of H. Erectus, is there a sand sifting goby that is safe to have with them? The tank will be 65gal or larger. The only other fish would possibly be a red banded pipefish... (Would be getting all of them from OR.)

Thanks in advance for the advice, and since I am doing my research now I can do a bigger tank etc if that is necessary. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
