Anything wrong with a male/female Banggai along with several Spotted Cardinals in a 75? I think my 2 Banggai's are males but so far I can't manage to tell for sure. They are my only fish in the tank so far.

Two male Banggai will not work together although Banggai should do fine with spotted cardinals.
Hey Steve just wanted to know what you thought about my stock list. 65 gallon tank mostly sps. Thanks in advance for the help. Tony
2x candy basslets
1x centropyge shepardi
1x bells flasher wrasse
2x johnsons fairy wrasse
1x golden Tongan Blenny
1x hooded fairy wrasse
How do most people go about selecting pairs? You often can't tell if you get them when they are quite small. And ideally you want to raise them in the tank, not swap them later when you find out the gender is wrong. I am guessing my LFS won't want to swap them later. Their attitude is likely that it's not their problem if you decide much later you don't want a fish they sold you for that reason. And it's not very eco-friendly to pitch one for another.
Steve,
Thanks for what you do. From what I can see as a new arrival to the hobby, you're a tremendous resource to the reef community.
Based on your comments I made some revisions to the 75G stocking list. Take a look and see what you think...
1x Ocellaris Clownfish
1x Royal gramma
1x Yellow watchman goby
1x Mckoskers flasher wrasse
1x Kole yellow-eye tang
1x Blue-green reef chromis
1x Kaudern's Cardinal
1x Yellowtail damselfish aggressive, so I would not do this
1x Firefish introduce early as they are passive
1x Pistol shrimp (to hang out with the watchman)
1-2x Peppermint Shrimp
1x Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
Hi Steve,
Would like your opinions on a couple of fish. Once my Kole Tang is out of QT, I'd like to add another wrasse and possibly an angelfish. What are your thoughts about adding a Cirrhilabrus exquisitus followed by a Genicanthus watanabei to the existing stock below? Liveaquaria recommends 125G for the angelfish, but I'm not sure what the tank length requirement for this fish is, since it maxes out at 6". tank requirements are not predicated primarily on the length of the mature fish, although obviously a 15 inch fish would not be happy in a 48 inch tank. Genicanthus and other fish minimum tank requirements are more based on activity level, territorial needs and swimming pattern. What you do not want is to have a fish "pace" back and forth in the tank. Since you already have a largish grazer coming into your community, a second one already resident, a third one in your size tank is not advisable. note that Siganus unimaculatus, while normally reef safe for corals, if underfed, can become non-coral safe.
Current stock list:
Ecsenius bicolor
Nemateleotris magnifica
(2) Amphiprion ocellaris
Paracheilinus mccoskeri
Siganus unimaculatus
Gramma loreto
Ctenochaetus strigosus (in QT with several weeks to go)
My DT is a 105G, 48L x 24W x 21H. I also have a few LPS coral frags (Duncan, Acan, Euphyllia), so I'm leery of Centropyge angels. Thanks!
Great, thank you Steve. I really appreciate the advice. I will forgo the Genicanthus. Should I assume the C. exquisitus is OK to add, then?
I've been reading this thread off and on while I've planned and built my 178 gal (66"x26"x24") over the past year. Enjoyable and informative read.
I will QT everything new for 8 weeks minimum.
Currently in my 38 gal and looking to transfer to new build:
Ocellaris clown with RBTA
Royal gramma
1 blue/green chromis (was 4 initially) Unfortunately chromis virtually always reduce their number down to one, occasionally two
1 very shy Pink and blue spotted goby
Looking to add:
5 lyretail Anthias
Exquisite wrasse
Chevron tang
Pair rhomboid or lineatus wrasses
Possibly Mccoskers flasher wrasse
Powder blue tang
Would love to add a pair of watanabei angels early if the bio load won't be too much. bioload is not an issue, but finding a male that is healthy is very problematic for Genicathus and a pair must be added concurrently.
Thank you in advance for your advice,
Adam
Hey Steve looking for help with my 180 FOWLR

Hi guys
I have a 180 gallon tank using marine pure filter block, live rock, live sand, protein skimmer in the sump but no refugium. I have a shallow sand bed not really meant for filtration purposes but more for beautification of the tank.
I plan to keep sps and lps. Haven't decided on what sps yet but lps is only the following: hammer, torch, frogspawn, brain and candy cane.
First, you have too many large tangs
The invert and fishes I plan to keep is as follows;
Blue hippo tang Reef Central's recommendation is an 8 foot 240 gallon tank
Atlantic blue tang
Banggai cardinal
Thread fin anthrax
Bicolor anthias
Scott's fairy wrasse aggressive
Blue jaw trigger not invertebrate safe
Brown tang
Yellow tang
Possum wrasse with aggressive fish such as C. scottorum will mean you never see this fish
Kole tang
Picasso, ocellaris and black clown only two clowns, must be of the same species
Purple tang
Royal gamma
Flame angel
Candy cane basslet
Mandarin fish after 6 months
Blood red shrimp
Clams
Sand sifting starfish will starve to death in the long term
Some advice pls?
