This should be fine. A male mandarin and female mandarin have the same behavioral pattern; the male has a spiked dorsal fin whereas the female has a rounded one.

Hermit crabs kill snails for their shells so pick one or the other

Would a Dottyback or Royal Gramma be more appropriate for this setup (I have been recommended both, but the info and looks seems fairly similar).
Can Hermit Crab aggression be curbed by ample empty shells?
One last question, thanks for answering these stocking questions. Would a coral that hosts a clown/pair help the tank accommodate them? Or will their behavior remain mostly unchanged?
First you can not decide what clownfish will associate with, but if they choose to associate with a coral, they may damage or kill it
One fish at the most in a 10 gallon tank. However not any type of blenny; they require a larger tank.

Hello.
I have a 38 gallon aquarium, no sump, Reef Octopus HoB skimmer, carbon/GFO reactor, 40+ lbs drive rock that I'm going to use to cycle with (don't want hitch hikers), and about an inch of sand.
This is my first marine aquarium. I plan to keep both fish and corals, but easy to keep things at first. Haven't thought about corals at all, but don't want to cover them in this post. Fish stocking list is below, let me know what you think, and what order to add them. Clowns are territorial, so add them later, correct? Or would it be okay to add them first? Also, add the CUC right after cycle is finished, correct?

I have a 44 gallon, with 20 lbs live rock right now, planning on adding more as I find pieces that fit nicely. I haven't done a skimmer or anything at this point with this being my first tank and I'm still learning as I go.
I have 2 ocellaris clown and one Blue Spotted Puffer. I just have a skunk shrimp in my CUC right now, and have discovered two asterina star, not sure if and how I will pull them.
I am looking at some angels, and dottybacks, but I would love some suggestions on beginner fish that will make my learning process ease into the harder to care for fish.
I would love to get a 100+ gallon tank once I figure this saltwater thing out

Needs a slightly larger tank and is not invertebrate safe

Dottybacks are aggressive and may preclude other tank mates; one small (dwarf) angel in this sized tank

Better. However, you still need to reduce the number of fish, especially large fish which inhabit the same ecological niche. Until you do that, it will not be a good usage of my time to analyze behavioral issues.

40 gallon DT, 30 gallon sump with fuge, bubble magus skimmer, danger mag 7, live rock, would like to eventually get an anemone and maybe some acro.

I can remove foxface.... basically im looking to include all the diff. colours with hardiness of fish.... i dont want any delicate fishes and non to semi agressive, with some schooling fishes.....
First of all, no fish will school in your sized tank; anthias will "shoal" (aggregate to some degree) but some types of anthias require more "attention" and care than others. Mixing fish in a community tank is not a function of coloration it is a behavioral compatibility issue. If you have multiple fish occupying the same ecological niche, you will need a larger tank since their territorial needs will increase as they mature. A single fish in a given ecological niche may be totally nonaggressive whereas more than one or many many have aggressive tendencies. An easy example of this would be tangs and conspecifics. It may be that this thread is not going to fulfill your needs or expectations.
