well I am going to keep an eye on my sixline over the next day or so. if it gives my new clown problems I will be bringing him to the store and they already said they would take him. if I do I would like to get a royal gramma. would this be a bad mix with the 2 clowns, green clown goby, and firefish. should be fine

other possible tank mates would be to replace 6 line if needed, please let me know what you think

hello, i have a 50g tank(3 footer) with a 6g fuge and 15g sump running for 5 months. i have some zoanthids, LPS, and soft corals. and a wildcaught clarkii clown fish's been in my tank for over 2 months already. now i plan to add more fish.
i just bought a lawn mower blenny. does that mean i cannot get another blenny like a bicolor blenny anymore?
i'm looking at a female tricolor wrasse. can i add a male tricolor later when it becomes available? will the female get along with clarkii? i don't really like female color so should i get a six line wrasse instead?are all wrasse pods population reducers?
i plan to have a mandarin in the future. so should i avoid all wrasse?

since i have 2 fish already, i'll add 3 more. not sure about mandarin in the future.

i plan to have a mandarin in the future. so should i avoid all wrasse? Your tank is not large enough to sustain a mandarin, especially with other copepod eaters

please pick 3 fish out of the above 7 for me because i don't know which combination would work. from my readings, i've learned that most marine fish hate their tank mates, and like to live alone. therefore i don't know which ones to pick anymore.

engineer goby, I do not recommend this fish, especially in this sized tank as get gets to be a foot long and will rearrange your aquascaping
sandsifting goby which species?
cleaner wrasse only the african captured one will survive and it will not work with the fish you have planned in the tank since none of the fish you are planning will allow themselves to be cleaned; also this fish will not eat parasites such as cryptocaryon irritans

and that's it for now for fish I still need to do some research but if you have any suggestions. Also I want to add coral but not too sure what to get maybe some zoos and mushrooms to start out.

The six line is not likely to remain peaceful. It is highly likely to take out any pseudochromis even a relatively peaceful one like P. fridmani. The chromis should be fine

Thinking of setting up a 40B as a low to medium light reef tank to house a Fu Manchu lionfish(wanted something different than the other tank I'm setting up as a mixed medium-high light reef)

For tankmates I was thinking a Matted Filefish and a Flame Hawkfish. Are either of these in serious danger of becoming a meal for the lionfish?

Would maintaining a population of SW acclimated Mollys and/or guppy's improve their chances of being ignored by the lionfish?

I do not provide commentary/analysis on aggressive fish tanks. A lionfish will eat, or in worst case, try to eat, anything it can fit into its mouth. It's mouth is larger than it appears because of how it eats its prey.

a mandarin is unrealistic in this sized tank for long term success; any of the shrimp goby pairs would work assuming you have sand

I was looking into getting a small one to start with, that will first be put into a 60 gallon tank, I also have a 139 gallon tank i will be setting up in about 6 months. Assuming the growth rate on the tang isn't too fast, would he be ok in the smaller tank for about a year or so until the other tank is up and running? The tank is 4 feet long, 21 inches high, 12 inches front to back.

As these are common, easily available fish, Reef Central always feels it is best to wait until you have an appropriately sized tank rather than buying a fish with the expectation that a larger tank will be available. It is not fish size that determines the appropriate tank size, although clearly putting a large fish in a small tank will look weird and be bad for the fish, it is fish activity level, metabolic rate, food availability, and perceived need for territory, that determines desired minimum tank size. I would suggest waiting until you have the tank size required.

2)sleeper blue dot goby not desirable in this sized tank as it will deplete the tank of beneficial organisms in the sand
3)orange spotted goby either this one or the one below (but not both)
4)tiger watchman goby
5)Mandarin dragonette not desirable in this sized tank as it will starve to death in the long run
6)flasher wrasse (mccosker) needs a larger tank
7)cleaner wrasse only African collected ones will survive long term but this will not clean parasites off your fish and the fish on your list will not allow cleaning in any case
8)black nox angel fish needs a larger tank, not coral safe
9)Harlequin bass not compatible with bottom dwelling fish above

I'm not looking to get all these fish but your advice on how they would do with a longnose hawkfish and corals.

a longnose hawkfish is not a behavior problem but it does eat shrimp
