Would it be the same case with a Blue hippo tang.
No. P. hepatus needs a much larger and longer tank.
Would it be the same case with a Blue hippo tang.
Hello, I am actually looking for a suggestion for a larger fish and tangs for a 116 gallon corner tank.
As those who follow this thread know, I do not provide suggestions/recommendations for a variety of reasons.
I currently have
- two false perculae I have owned since they were juvenile
- 3 sexy shrimps
I want to add
- cleaner shrimp (skunk)
- red blood shrimp
- dragonet once the tank is 9 months mature
- pair of watchmen goby unless you have a bonded pair, only one will survive long term
Looking for suggestions for :
- tang most need a larger tank
- schooling fish fish will not "school" in your sized tank and your tank is not large enough for shoaling fish
- dotty back very aggressive, will limit tank mates
- royal gramma
- one larger fish
Thanks!
How about
- 3 Cardinal fish depends on species; Bangaii can only have one or a mated pair
- 1 orchid dottyback
- 1 powder blue tang or 1 yellow tang the yellow is ok, the powder blue really would do better with a longer tank
- 4 firefish will become one, or at most two
Hello Snorvich. My current fish population is a mated pair of false perculas, a rabbitfish, a yellow tang and a six-line wrasse.
I would like to add a flame hawkfish and a royal gramma. Will either/both be compatible with my current population?
I know you deal with an insane amount of post, but you missed mine over the weekend. I tore down my tank and am in the process of setting it back up.
This is for a 60" 100 gallon LPS dominant reef
2 occ clowns - the only fish I currently own they are in my qt. Couldn't bear to part ways with my designer clowns
Orchid Dottyback While P. fridmani is the least aggressive of the pseudochromis, it still may be a problem with your flasher and fairy wrasse in this sized tank.
Mag Foxface
Yellow Longnose Butterfly
McCosker's Flasher Wrasse
Solon Wrasse on the aggressive side, but may do ok with the flasher wrasse if introduced last
Midas Blenny can nip at plantivore tank mates
Flame Hawk precludes shrimp
Kole Tang
Slightly worried about the Psuedochromis with the wrasses, but I much prefer that to a gramma.
Hi
I'm considering getting a foxface lo as I have been led to believe that they are fairly peaceful and easy to keep. Don't particularly want Tangs as I hear they can have a tendency to icy as they can get stressed.
While not the subject of this thread (which is limited to marine fish compatibility, cryptocaryon irritans (ich) can only affect fish if it is in your tank and does not have a tendency to affect fish as a result of being stressed. I have written extensively on the lifecycle of cryptocaryon irritans and those stickies reside in the Marine Fish Diseases forum.
I only have a few soft corals at the moment but hope to add more from time to time - will the foxface lo be okay?
180 US gallon tank, sump, live rock, live sand.
Certainly tank size is sufficient, but it depends on other fish in the stocking list due to behavioral compatibility issues.
Thanks!
i have read and read on this thread and i certainly have a better idea of what can and cant work but i would like to check my hopeful stock list and see if i will have any issues.just fyi this is my first saltwater tank.
DT is a 90 gal with about 80-90 lbs of live rock. i am looking forward to getting some soft corals and an anemone for the clowns
i have a wet dry filter underneath. looking into a 29 gal sump.
i currently have (from previous owner)
1 Bengaii cardinal
1 blue green damsel
1 ocellaris clownfish.
intended fish stock list includes
1 more ocellaris clown must be a small juvenile, smaller than the existing one
1 pink spot goby with or without pistol shrimp
1 blue hippo tang. Needs a much larger tank (8 foot minimum)
1 purple firefish ( i do not know if this will be bad with the goby) No problem as they occupy different ecological niches
thats all i can think of that i know i would like to have in my tank. im sure i will see something on my visit to u-tube and have to add something to my list.
And I am always pleased to reassess if you provide tank size and total stocking list
thanks in advance
Mike B
right now i have a 24g jbj biocube with no fish (leathers)
and a 17g with one baby domino clown (other corals)
what recommendations do you guys have?
This thread is answered only by Reef Central staff. If you want general discussion, start a thread in the Reef Fish Forum. As those who follow this thread know, I do not provide recommendations for a variety of reasons. However I am always happy to analyze stocking lists for compatibility.
i was considering six line wrasse, or a possum wrasse. a firefish goby or maybe like a court jester. and i was considering a dwarf angel of some sort for the larger tank? any ideas for each setup would be appreciated
Hi, I am currently setting up a 75 gal tank, with about 100# of LR, sump/refugium with an ASM G3 skimmer.
I was thinking about adding..
1 Flame Angel (already own)
1 Coral Beauty Angel While a second dwarf angel is doable, I would not add another grazer (the kole tang below)
1 Chromis (already own) <-- best fish ever..
1 Bangaii Cardinal (already own)
1 Kole Tang
1 Occelaris Clown (already own)
1 Yellow Clown Goby
1 Lawnmower Blenny
1 Mcloskers Flasher Wrasse (with lid)
thinking about "long nose hawkfish", or a mysis eating "Green Mandarin" the long nose hawkfish is not shrimp safe; whether or not a mandarin eats mysis is irrelevant since its primary nutrition will be copepods and it would be unable to compete with the other much more efficient "mysis predators"
How is the compatibility?
Is that too much fish, even though I have an over powered skimmer?
Thank you, Ok I understand about the "mandarin's" primary food is copepods.. Now I see, by the way you put it.. The Mandarin is no match at swimming for food like the others.. ( I don't recall ever seeing mysis making to the bottom of the tank)
Let's do it again..
75 gal, 100# LR
1 flame angel
1 chromis
1 bangaii cardinal
1 yellow clown goby
1 lawnmower blenny
1 kole tang
1 occalaris clown
1 mcloskers wrasse (with cover)
1 long nose hawkfish (don't have shrimp)
1 green mandarin
Hello,
I have a 40g tank, and I was wondering is there a limit to how many snails you can have per gallon? I have four Nassarius snails, and want to add more. I really like them, so I want to get as many as I am able to keep.
