no real reason to choose the mollys over something else i suppose, i was just looking for a smaller jet black fish that would work well with the others, i was also trying to see if i could find a very small type of schooling fish that comes in either blue or yellow (or both).

love the idea of the 'pod piles' and will definitely use it, hopefully with he pod piles in tandem with the fuge there will be a sufficient population.

There is no fish that will school or shoal in your sized tank. A common question . . .

would Blue Sapphire Damselfish (Chrysiptera springeri) be a better choice than the blue chromis then? am i able to have multiples of this fish? if so, how many do i have room for in the tank with the inhabitants now looking like this:

(1) Dragonet
(2) Black Clownfish No. A. ocellaris
(1) Blue Reef Chromis
(1) Yellow Wrasse

Crustaceons-
(1) Blood Red Fire Shrimp
Pods for Dragonets

Clams-
(1) Blue Maxima Clam

Coral-
(1) Anemone- Long tentacle purple
(1) Blue Mushroom Coral
(1) Colony Polyp, Yellow
(1) Blue Candy Cane Coral
(1) Yellow Fiji Leather Coral

ahh, makes sense, im guessing because schooling is a 'defensive' behaviour in open water?

It is a numbers game with fish; with a large group, the odds of a predator taking a single fish are small. In a large tank, glassy sweepers will school, but we are talking about a LARGE tank and a LARGE number of glassy sweepers.

Well damsel fish are aggressive; I hate to see you add a fish that will limit choices in the future. If you HAVE to have blue coloration look at Macneill's Assessor Basslet.

New list:

1- Barnacle Blenny

1- Yellow Watchman Goby

1- Royal Gramma Basslet

1- Geometric Pygmy Perchlet (Can I do more than one? If so, how many?)

3-4 Red Spotted Pajama Cardinals

2- Oscilerius Clownfish

I am really struggling to find fish that work for my small tank. Do you have any suggestions? I would like some schooling fish. Thanks again for all your expertise!

Please always resubmit tank size for best results

My tank is a mixed reef 40 gallon breeder with sump and fuge. I am leaving the perchlet off but would like more suggestions.

should be fine; however the cardinals will not "school". Note: as those who follow this thread know, I do not provide suggestions for a variety of reasons. Always happy to reevaluate, however.

Hi again. Posting this for a friend looking into a 72"x17"x17" reef. Here's his proposed stocking list:
* Powder blue tang/mimic tang
* Yellow tang
* mystery wrasse
* 2 ocellaris clowns
* Sunburst anthias
* Humu trigger
* blue girdle angel

Hi again. Posting this for a friend looking into a 72"x17"x17" reef.

If you supplied the correct dimensions (an unusually sized tank), that is 90 gallons

Here's his proposed stocking list:
* Powder blue tang/mimic tang needs a larger tank
* Yellow tang needs a larger tank
* mystery wrasse not shrimp safe
* 2 ocellaris clowns
* Sunburst anthias
* Humu trigger needs a larger tank, very aggressive, and not invert safe
* blue girdle angel needs a larger tank and not reef safe

why does your friend not post for themselves?

I have a 100 Gal Tank -72" long x 18" wide x 16" deep
This is where I get in trouble, I want to do a reef tank but have a decent selection of fish.
I would like to have:
2-Ocellaris Clownfish - Currently have
Tang - Can I go with 2 from different ocean areas?
Hawkfish - Sounds like I have to give him up
Diamond Watchman Goby - Currently have
Angelfish - Maybe a Blue Face?
Dwarf Angel - Bi Color or Flame
Basslet
Six Line Wrasse - Currently have - Can I have more than 1? Maybe go with a Jaw Fish?
To Many?

Hello!

I was hoping to get your opinion on a fish list for my new 120 gallon (4x2x2) tank that is conencted to a 35 gallon sump. It has close to 140 lbs of live rock between the display and sump that I have been curing for close to 2 months. I recently added some clean-up crew (snails and hermits). I'll be running carbon, gfo, and a skimmer. The skimmer will be upgraded in the next month or two (before the bulk of the fish hit the tank).

I've been running a biocube for the past 3 years or so so I have some stuff I'll be transferring over. I'll need to transfer:
1x orange and white ocellaris
1x flame angel
1x six-line wrasse
various softies and lps
RBTA (when tank matures.. I'm in no rush to transfer)

I would like to add:
1x black and white Ocellaris (I'm going to add it at the same time as I introduce the orange and white ocellaris to the new tank.. I'm also going to try and get the black and white to be significantly smaller than the orange and white).
1x Fox-Face Lo
1x small Yellow tang
1x small blue hippo tang
4-5x blue/green chromis

I understand that I have 7 fish before the blue/green Chromis. Is this too much? In total it would be approximately 12 fish. I would like to add more lps and softies eventually.

I also know that tangs typically like a lot of swimming room so I've tried to set up the rock so there is a lot of space to swim. I'm hoping that with smaller versions of the tangs that they would be ok in the tank.

I would appreciate any advice!

Thanks,
Brandon

Tailspot Blenny
Pair of Spotted Cardinals
2 Blue Reef Chromis will become one over time

1x orange and white ocellaris
1x flame angel
1x six-line wrasse will be a problem with many other potential tankmates
various softies and lps
RBTA (when tank matures.. I'm in no rush to transfer)

1x black and white Ocellaris (I'm going to add it at the same time as I introduce the orange and white ocellaris to the new tank.. I'm also going to try and get the black and white to be significantly smaller than the orange and white).
1x Fox-Face Lo
1x small Yellow tang
1x small blue hippo tang needs a much larger (longer) tank
4-5x blue/green chromis will become one over time

I understand that I have 7 fish before the blue/green Chromis. Is this too much? In total it would be approximately 12 fish. I would like to add more lps and softies eventually.
