Blonde Naso Tang needs a larger, longer tank
Copperband Butterfly needs gentle tank mates, and you do not have that as the yellow tank will never allow adding
Spotbreast Angel
Blue/Green Chromis
Purple Dottyback aggressive and not consistent with fairy wrasses
Exquisite Fairy Wrasse

Hello, All

I have had my salt water tank for all most a year now and it seems as though I may be a little stuck. I would like to place some coral in my tank but was told I couldn't because of lighting?

I have a 55 gallon tank with a over the tank filter made by aqua tech (for 50-60 gallon tanks)

I also have two clown fish who have been in there for almost a year as well. I have lots of crabs and snails and copods in my tank.

My questions:

How can I set up my tank to get ready to add some corals in?
I would like to get an anemone for my clown fish is this type of coral hardy?
I have had a star type coral in my tank and it honestly have never grown and only comes out when the light is on. I do not understand what I am doing wrong.

I also wanted to inquire about placing more fish in my tank specifically a manadarian goby and or any other type of bright fish?

What type of lighting do you have?
Not sure of your "I would like to get an anemone for my clown fish is this type of coral hardy?" - Nems aren't coral, they're an invertebrate. Also, which breed of clown do you have - the type of nem makes a difference if your intention is for them to host the nem. Different clown species will host different types of nem.
I'm guessing the star type coral in your tank is a star polyp, they're relatively hardy and generally only come out when the lights are on, otherwise they retract into their "rubbery" skeleton.
Mandarins are hard to keep unless your tank is crawling with various types of pods. One mandarin can wipe out a 55g tank worth of pods in relatively short order, and your clowns are also predatory of pods. There's plenty of other bright fish with a much higher survival rate than the mandarin to choose from, but be careful how much more you add to a 55 - your clowns will grow over time and can stress out smaller fish. The mandarin could end up being food for your nem as they're not the most agile swimmers and could get distracted hunting pods.

Diamond Gobie (should I keep)

Diamond Gobie (should I keep)

I have a diamond gobie and I am wanting to know if I should get rid of him...my lfs said he would keep the sand bed clean...but the more I learn it seems like he might be eating good stuff as well...and the other reason is it make my tank like a sand storm ... alway moving the sand bed and stuffing my hermit crabs into the rock...I loose a few hermit crabs a week because of him....any thoughts on these guys..?

Blonde Naso Tang
Copperband Butterfly
Spotbreast Angel or BlueFace Angel or Blue Grilled Angel
Blue/Green Chromis
(Pair)Exquisite Fairy Wrasse

Most important fish:
(pair) Blotched Anthias - My understanding they would be good as a pair.

Diamond gobies do not keep the sand bed clean. They do, however, eat beneficial organisms.

I previously suggested issues with your stocking list. That has not changed. Perhaps I am not the right source for your inquiry.

this thread is only about marine fish compatibility; however your other questions can be answered by many people as a separate thread in New to the Hobby. Mandarins, really require a larger tank for long term viability

Sorry I was not trying to offend you. I think your advise is very helpful.

I did change some things, and added 2 Blotched Anthias. They were my concern.

Thanks.

I never take offense and I never suggest courses of action, I simply provide information that will allow you to make an informed decision. Blotched Anthias should not be a problem.

Thanks Steve...

This means i don't have chance to introduce the Lemon Peel neither the Oscilaris clown?

The second ocellaris will be fine, but no more algae eaters. When doing a followup question, it is very helpful to me to provide entire planned stocking list and tank size. (I cannot easily go backwards and I have too many of these to even begin to remember past questions)
