With the feedback you gave me, we narrowed it down to a Blue Neon Goby, Royal Gramma Basslet, and the Orchid Dottyback. If I put the Yellowtail Damsel in last would it settling in ok with the rest or should I not even try it?
In regards to the Sea Star, is there any way I can target feed it or would it just be a lost cause in a tank that size? Thanks for all the feedback your giving me Snorvich, I really appreciate it.

Do you suggest a rose bubble tip eventually instead of the maxi?

Will the bicolor blenny and yellowhead jaw fish clash?

Thanks for all your input, this thread is awesome.

Do you suggest a rose bubble tip eventually instead of the maxi? sexy shrimp will love the maxi. Clownfish may or may not choose to associate with any anemone; they have a mind of their own. To see a list of clownfish and anemones, see this

Will the bicolor blenny and yellowhead jaw fish clash? no, should not be a problem. be sure to have rock rubble and/or empty shells for the jawfish as they like to use them for infrastructure

Thanks for all your input, this thread is awesome.

Last thing, I swear lol. One of the fish she really liked, but couldn't get due to the Damsel was an Ocellaris Clown. Since the Yellowtail is out, would a Clown be an ok fit with the rest of the fish you helped me sort through? Also, with the fish I am getting, what would you suggest as my order for introducing into the tank? My plan is to get one and QT it for 4 weeks and once I put it in putting the next into the Qt until we are done. Thanks again for all the help.

60lbs live rock. 55 gallon tank, 20 gallon sump with protein skimmer, refugium with macroalgae. Tank is 48"x20"x12".

- 2 mated ocellaris black snowflake clowns

- either Orange Stripe Prawn Goby (Amblyeleotris randalli) or Hi Fin Red Banded Goby (Stonogobiops nematodes)

- potentially a yellow & Black Heraldi Angelfish (Centropyge heraldi)

- Chalk Bass (Serranus tortugarum)
-Royal Gramma Basslet (Gramma loreto)

-either Tail Spot Blenny (Ecsenius stigmatura)
-Starry Blenny (Salarias ramosus)

-Zebra Barred Dartfish (Ptereleotris zebra)

-Paracheilinus mccoskeri

We basically want a peaceful tank with fish that fill specific niches and don't over crowd. I have read a large amount of posts to this thread and want to make sure every fish has a lot of swimming room/bioload is ok.

Thanks so much for all you do! I know this thread keeps you super busy. On the up side, it really helps newbies like us make (hopefully) educated guesses on fish. :) lol

Thanks.

either is behaviorally similar, but not both

- potentially a yellow & Black Heraldi Angelfish (Centropyge heraldi)

- Chalk Bass (Serranus tortugarum) I don't think both will work in this sized tank; the G. loretto, while territorial, will have a very small territory it needs to protect
-Royal Gramma Basslet (Gramma loreto)

-either Tail Spot Blenny (Ecsenius stigmatura) better from a behavior perspective
-Starry Blenny (Salarias ramosus)

-Zebra Barred Dartfish (Ptereleotris zebra)

-Paracheilinus mccoskeri

I have a 65 Gallon Mixed Reef proper filtration and water flow 55lbs live rock and 2-3 inch sand bed.

In The Tank Now
-2 osc clowns
-purple firefish
-starry blenny
-yellow head watchman goby pistol shrimp
-medium size clean up crew
-Yellow Fin angel (not in tank yet)

does this seem heavy on stocking or could we add another fish or two ?

behavior rather than bioload will be the limiting factor. If you find one or two small behaviorally compatible fish, check back with revised stocking list and tank size

Steve,

I'm assuming a lot of your advice is from study and experience in the field/hobby. Is there a recommended source, where I could conveniently look up, for example, small, reef compatible, non-fin-nipping blenny, and see if they meet my visual needs, before I send the whole shebang over to you for your blessing?

Thanks

Yes, I have been keeping marine aquaria since the 80's and have about 3000 (almost) dives which were used to study marine fish and invert behavior. The closest visual source that I know of on the web is found here. Another source, but less accurate descriptions can be found here.

After 8 weeks of my 50 gallon FOWLR being fallow I want to start restocking my tank. Here is my wish list... of course I will only add them after QT. I have a 10 gallon QT and a 20 gallon QT.

1. Toby Puffer Fish
2. Faintail Orange Filefish (can toby puffer and filefish get along? I understand they cant get along with another of their species and that some filefish are considered mimicks of the puffer fish?)
3. Randalls Shrimp Goby
4. Tailspot Neon Wrasse
5. Flame Angel OR Coral Beauty OR Potters Angelfish (does anyone do better then the other? I have tried Flame angel 3x with no luck but that was before I did the ich fallow tank treatment?)
6/7 I am debating w adding 2 percula clown fish to this tank. If this can work.. I might add the tank raised percula clowns with the puffer?

THANK YOU!!
Neptune

This is also the order I plan to introduce them?
