I know you get overwhelmed with requests, but I think you missed mine ;) I hate it when that happens. Although I have my pages set to change relatively infrequently, when they do change, if a number of questions happen at the same time, I occasionally screw up. I am very sorry, it was not intentional.

Hello, current tank info. 150 gal DT w/ 50 gal Sump/Refugium. Reef Octopus skimmer, carbon, GFO, bio pellets reactors. Live Rock and deep sand bed.

Current occupants:
2 - jawfish
1 - bicolor Blenny
1 - Harlequin Basslet
2 - banded coral shrimp ( pair)

Looking to add
2 - Atlantic Yellow Tangs, Acanthurus coeruleus

they are yellow as juveniles, but are blue as they mature. One would be marginal, two would not work in this length tank. The normally recommended minimum tank size is 180 gallons but you are close enough with no other members of the same ecological niche so it is likely to work.

Your thoughts are most appreciated. Thanks

I'm back -- with a newly acquired love of anthias, and thus a new stocking list. One anthias is a must, I understand the feeding requirements, not sure if I can get away with 3 in my tank size-wise (3 females to start or 1 male 2 females).

Shallow 75g; 48"x22"x16", 40g sump w/ fuge

2 Ocellaris Clownfish
1 Midas Blenny or 1 ORA red sea mimic blenny (maybe the mimic because I don't have any other algae eaters?)
3 Carberryi Anthias or Dispar Anthias
2-3 Fairy Wrasses (either 2-3 males fairy wrasses of different types, or a m/f fairy wrasse pair - or trio w/ third f - of the same type)
1 Assessor
1 Blue/Green Chromis
1 Orchid Dottyback
1 Diamond Watchman Goby (once tank matures)
2 tank-bred banded pipefish (eating mysis, but will still wait for tank to mature)

Reality check please on how many of the above I can actually keep in my tank. They're listed somewhat in order of preference, and also potential stocking order. Thanks so much!!

Due to the social interaction of a group of anthias, normally a 125 gallon tank is recommended for groups; one would be fine in a 75 gallon tank. Carberryi Anthias are excellent fish.

1 Blue/Green Chromis
1 Orchid Dottyback while this is the least aggressive dottyback, P. fridmani may still provide issues with flasher wrasses
1 Diamond Watchman Goby (once tank matures)

I have a Kole Tang in my 125, how would a Powder Brown do in there? Other fish include a foxface, dwarf angel, chromis, orchid dottyback, yellowtail damsel and oc clown.

Still tinkering with the stock list for my new 75g. This is what it's looking like for fish, and would be in this order:

1. Blue Gudgeon Dartfish

2. Purple Firefish

3. Bangaii Cardinalfish or Spotted Cardinalfish

4. Royal Gramma

5. Blue Reef Chromis

6. Exquisite Fairy Wrasse

7. Kole Tang

Also, I know they are awfully common, but ocellaris clownfish are really cool. Would one of those work in addition to the above? Or better to substitute it for one of the others? And if so, I'd add it next to last I'm guessing?

Also planning to have a couple of peppermint shrimp, a couple of red skunk shrimp, and corals (LPS and soft). Thanks for taking the time to review all of this!

I have a 125 gallon reef tank, mostly softies and zoas. Here's what I'am looking to put in it
1x White Cheek Tang
2x Fathead Sunburst Anthias (pair)
2x Ocellaris Clownfish (pair)
5x Zebra Barred Dartfish (do you think they would shoal or stick near each other?)
2x Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse (pair)
7x Chalk Bass (same ? as the dartfish)
1x Mandarin Dragonet

With these fish, do you think I would be fully stocked?
Thanks for all your help and input.

This plan is fine. If you were going to substitue A. ocellaris either as a single or pair, I would probably do so with the chromis.

2x Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse (pair)
7x Chalk Bass (same ? as the dartfish) more likely; introduce concurrently and be aware they are not shrimp safe
1x Mandarin Dragonet

With these fish, do you think I would be fully stocked? I would characterize it as comfortably stocked

Im in the process of setting up my first mixed reef saltwater tank.

Tank 29g biocube
stock lighting
upgraded return pump, added nano 420 powerhead

plan to have simple beginner corals such as zoas

20-30# live rock
20# sand bed

CUC
snails
crabs
2 peppermint shrimp
1-2 cleaner shrimp

Proposed livestock

2 clowns (most likely ocellaris)
1 green clown goby
1 royal gamma
(could I add a firefish or blenny as well?)

I would like to have fish that live in and around the rocks, and hang on the different levels of the tank. First priority is getting along, then next is using all of the tank.

Plan is fine and a firefish would do well as long as you stick to ocellaris or percula clownfish

Thanks so much! I'm really excited about the Carberryi Anthias, and will stick with one in this 75g tank.

I also wanted to say that I've read a fair bit of this thread and others that you've posted, and I really like your approach to reef keeping. Further, the info you've shared has helped many people (including myself!) not only learn which fish can coexist with other fish, but also the types of things to look for and questions to ask. Thanks again!!
