Please show pics of your 180 tanks

Hey April I am going to start to build it tomorrow can take some pictures when its done. I decided to go with painted mild steel for this one and see how it worksits about 1/5 of the price.

divein4444, When you redid the rock, did you take out the corals. or move them over to the other side, I'm afraid to move the rock and squish something!

I moved all the corals to the other side (as best they would fit temporarily). Some of the bigger rocks I took out for a couple minutes while I positioned, placed in buckets. You mentioned squishing something, after I moved everything back one of my rose bulbs was squished between to rocks, looked like part of it was bad off..hanging there limp. I haven't seen it since, so guess it's moved to the back and recovering.

April, I really forget how much rock is in there. I believe it is around 250 lbs.. Theres a little in the sump as well.

Here is a pic of a tubular steel stand. (old camera, sorry)
Also, when I re-aquascaped mine, I took out just about all the corals and placed them in a 6 dollar rubber maid type container. I put a powerhead and a heater in it. The work lasted about all day and I didnt want them in there because the water got pretty nasty looking..

You say this one goes in the basement? Take picks of the progress, I guess you'll be pretty busy this week-end! Will this one be your second tank then? And did you decide what to put in it FO?

Qdoggie, Thanks for the pic of the stand, I had never heard of one, Except fot the really big tanks, Is this one yours? Did you build it? Is it what you have under yous 180?

jjjimmy,Beautiful!!!! Did you build the cabinet? And how much rock is in this tank> I love the bridge in the middle, I guess I mus need about 75 more lbs to do more with the height in mine. I am just no good with the stacking! LFS that I go to had a little guy that is really good. One of these days I think he is comming to help out with mine.

April, it is mine. I took the idea from zephrant here at rc. I designed it to my specs but a friend welded it for me.

Now will this remain open, or is this under one of your tanks ?

divein4444, Is that a bubble coral on the far right hand side? Its HUGE!!!

Sure is...you got that right it is huge, too huge sometimes and still growing. I've had to place it by itself in the lower corner of the tank, the sweeper tentacles get real long, already stung and wiped out my xenia.:(

I had a very large LTA that liked to roam from time to time, and he rolled top down onto My Galaxea! No more LTA, it made me sick, it was a mess, the poor clown tried endlessly to poke him back to life, I took it out and had to get another LTA for the clown, he took right to it so I was excited, But the Galaxea is now on the top,of the rock!!!! LOL

I cannot tell a lie, I've had it for only around 3 months now. I bought it at a LFS for $65, but I now noticed the hard exoskeleton is covering more of the rock surface than when purchased, growing (thankfully not like mad!). It's never looked better, my LFS had a second one that's since died off. One pitfull, it really too big, I can't put anything near it.

I now have the 180g on it. I made a U shaped wooden fascade that slides over it so you dont see the metal framing.

how did you attach the fascade Qdoggie? nice tank BTW. im in the process of designing a 180/210 system (so thanks for starting this thread April :D). i think i will be building a steel stand and wondering how to attach the wood. i am thinking of heavy duty velcro or magnets, so it is removable.

Actually it is free standing. Along the top edge where it meets the tank I made a 45 cut and placed a piece along the edges so it made a lip in the front and you dont see the edge of the wood. This was glued and nailed. In the front it is two pieces on the left and right held together by some wood braces that were glued and screwed. Also for support, the corners were glued and nailed as well. It is light enough to slide off but heavy enough to stay in place. PM me if you need more pics or questions answered. I hate to take the focus of the thread off course.

Hey Landon!!!! It was your idea to post for pics if I remember correctly! Thank you!

divein4444, you may need to move it up lik I did, so you can put other corals below it, you wont be able toput anything above that big boy! LOL
