No it is not normal. Try increasing the flow a bit. Watch it carefully for signs of decomposition.

ok well increased the flow a little...
2 things which i should probably include
1. i noticed 1 aptasia polyp right where the carpet is (dont know if this is relevant)
2. The clowns have been "waving" their fins at the sand, sort of like they're making room for the carpet, for days now and a bunch of sand has been getting on the anemone. (dont know if this is relevant either)

I would live it where it is at, moving it would just cause more stress.

To be honest, it doesn't look very good at all, and I would keep a very close eye on it.

it looks awful. i would try to keep the clowns away from it. it hard to do i know. i had to do it with my clowns. they were not to happy with me. and i would like to kown were you got the pair of maroon clowns.

well i kind of paired them myself... the big GSM was my brothers from probably about 4 years ago... the smaller clown i got i think in april or may... was TOUGH to pair up trust me.. but in all i finally got it to work out.. if you would like to know how just pm me.. as for now im going to try to isolate the clowns

Different tank!!!!!! Or possible your sump they wont be happy but its ok they will live! How long did the lfs have the anemone before you bought it?

i had it shipped from an online supplier so i dont know.. I dont have a different tank to put it in a tthe moment, but I could set it up in a rubbermaid or something

I got a Carpet Anem about a week ago also, was doing great, now the mouth is open. Clowns are hosting it, and it gets really large, then deflates. It moves the "carpet" around, so I know it isnt dead. Any thoughts? I have him in my 55gal for right now. Water params are perfect. Temp 78 and s.g. 1.025
