Plesiops oxycephala

Plesiops oxycephala should brighten up around the fins & cheeks some more as it gets older. I have been working on researching to find out more information on this fish. As far as I know is that this fish, it one of only 2 that were brought into the country. I believe LA picked up the other one.

Very nice pick up. What's the size and how big does it get? Is it aggressive? Any link to more info on this fish?

Thanks.

Can you give some insight to this guy's home and any specialized care? I imagine he is pretty cryptic?

Very cool fish though. Did he reach the 4-figure mark? ;)

I got one about 2 weeks ago so if only 2 were brought in the other one went to Absolutely Fish in NJ because thats where i got mine. Its an awesome fish. I only c mine during feeding time for split seconds as it darts out to grab pieces of food, but he always comes out to eat no problems there. Very cryptic, but looks incredible when it shows itself in the light, mine is between 2 and 3 inches long. He didnt come out to eat for the first 4 days or so that i had him, very very shy. As Aquabacs said, the orange on the cheeks and tail should brighten with age, also the body will darken to near black and there should be some bright blue on the dorsal fin. The photos floating around the internet do this fish no justice.

Thanks all for the info.
That is correct; AF picked up the other one from Joe. My fish's cryptic behavior is exactly the same. He has found a nice hole in my reef, in a low current area; it darts out to eat and darts back. When does come out, the fins on this fish are beautiful to view. .
