Poknsnok's 240 build

this is great stuff
if u dont mind could i ask how the stand was built? i mean what size tube did u use?

and about the closed loop intake, what did u use as a strainer? any critters get stuck with all that gph?

Stand was built by JRFabrications, same guy that did mine. It's made of 1.5 inch square tube 1/8 inch thick.

I drilled plenty of holes in the strainer. Mflamb can tell you the math formula needed to figure the area required to prevent suction in the holes. basically more area in holes than area of pipe I believe..

Mmmm - looks like a lot of locals got lucky :(! One of my Barracudas gets loud every once in a while but then nothing. It's funny that my Barracudas aren't as loud as the Dart - go figure.

So - are you going to send the Dart back? I'd do it now before your tank is totally loaded - or do you already have it loaded - JK :D!!

yeah, interesting huh?? we are very lucky.. nothing new in the tank and there will be nothing new til at least Feburary.. I need to get the hood done, fans mounted and reactor on line in January. during that time Ill qt a bunch of Anthias or Chromis depending obn whether I can get the Anthias I want..

those are red stripe anthias (fasciatus).. no mflamb, they are out and active all the time, they do display subordinate agression when the halides arent on. the lower females mouth wrestle until "daylight" ( when the first halide comes on) then all is fine ant they eat constantly

Beautiful fish.

It's been a while since I researched Anthias. I didn't have much luck with the Lyretails and they were supposed to be some of the hardiest of all.

I'm new to the Red Stripe. Are they hardy and expensive?

Thanks

Joe,

This tank is awesome. You know I really, really love the light rack and how easy it is to manuever. Also, I love those Anthias too. How is the stand/canopy coming along?

the red stripe are considered very hardy but are usually hard to get and therefore expensive. However I was able to get these for much much less than Ive seen lately. We reefers here in Tampa are fortunate to have one of the best LFS in our own backyard and they often get their hands on great fish.

Im feeding them a mixture of mysis and cyclopeze soaked in selcon. I fed them about 5 times yesterday. They already beg like crazy . I was concerned I wouldnt see them for sometime after first introducing them to the tank because they are considered lower light fish and I have 3x400 watts on this tank but since the first feeding they all have been front and center
