Pond Help

I got the ok today to put a little pond in the back yard.

The problems I am going to have right off the bat is the vermin around the area, I wanted to keep frogs and koi but I have found today a foot and a half garden snake under the trash can. I wanted to catch it and make it the new reptile of the house but that was shot of out the window.

So how do you stop racoons getting to the fish??

What would be a good size for a pond and water fall I have a mag 9.5 I am working with

You can get a net to cover the pond to keep the fish safe. It's nearly invisible to the eye when you look at the pond.
Just like a reef, bigger is better, but the price goes up exponentially.

I know I like the pond Jarret has set up, but I like the shape of Harrys pond setup. I am looking for a oval tub with a overflow.

To be honest I don't think a mag 9 will cut it looking at Dr.Harrys set up

dont get one of those plastic ponds what ever you do!!!
Anthony I have a $2000 pond filter that i will give you free so all you need is a pond liner and pump and some other stuff once we get started but dont wait to long because your pond need bacteria before you get fish.

Hey Ant congrats on the pond build.

I suggest a pond liner as it is very cheap and gives you the freedom to design the shape of your pond.

Location is important, ie amount and time of sun which will be on the pond.

I highly recommend a bottom drain for any debry that sinks and a skimmer drain for any waste that floats.

The skippy filter is inexpensive and easy to build.

Lillies, and other water plants I can propagate from my pond for you.

I'm not sure how strong a mag 9 is but you will have to calculate head pressure.

You should come to the house to ck out my pond.

Yeah i would like to see the pond you have. I have to measure out the area I am going to add the pond to.

Jarret what is wrong with the plastic pond builds.

Harry does the linner just go on the ground and that is it and holds the water like a pool liner

Ideally, a sand base is recommended then the liner but thats esay too. Prefab plastic is ok but it is what it is, however you build a waterfall off of it into the pond.
