Pooky's 300

That great to hear they are lower. i wonder if it was a bad test. Sometime I don't rinse the cuvet good enough and great a bad test on the first one.

It's totally possible. But I couldn't do another test to confirm. It's probably too good to be true. But the good news is that the Alk and Ca levels finally balanced out.

You and me both (we also need something to help with our tank issues.:hammer:) I did a 50 gallon yesterday. Nice video Leo...I need to come see your tank. What city are you in?

I'm in Irvine. Anytime, just let me know. Warning, still a lot of frags growing in my tank.

My tank looks like CRAP!!! I miss all my corals. Even the new fishies can't fill the void :sad1:

I'm sorry to read this Kenny. When I took all of my corals out for 8 weeks, I just did not want to even look at the tank. There were days I would not even turn on the lights. I never cleaned the glass or skimmer. I was lucky if I remembered to feed the fish (but my fish aren't as cool as yours).

I vote that you should go get some tester corals. I have been seeing a lot of nice milli colonies coming in lately, especially on DD. Just go get some corals to fill the space and use them as testers :D

I'll have to wait a while longer even for tester corals. The last remaining Acros in there are not dead yet. Putting any new Acros in there would just be a waste of money. To make matters worst, the recent spike in nitrates and PO4 was probably the reason I lost several LPS colonies, including the Pastel Watermelon, Orion's Maze, and couple of very nice Favias. Even the Key Lime is all bleached out. Hopefully that one will make it. The levels are finally under control. On top of that, the Dale's Unknown colony all but RTN'ed in my small cube. I think that had more to do with temp fluctuations when outside temp dipped into the 60 couple of weeks ago. I was so worried about keeping the tank temps down that I had forgotten to add a heater

Hang in there Kenny! Your corals here are doing great! What's your alk/cal/mag/no3/po4 readings today?

Thanks Leo. I haven't tested in a couple of days. Waiting for the Hanna PO4 reagent to show up in the mail first. Too lazy and depressed to do the others.

Yeah, not to mention that I also lost the Australian CBB 2 days ago. It was doing so well and they are supposed to be a lot hardier than the usual CBB.

I am so sorry Kenny. Sometimes I really hate this hobby :(

Wait, I've been busy and not been keeping up, when did you have a NO3 and PO4 spike, after the water change? Also, let me know if you need reagent. I have an unopend box that I ordered last week so I can send some up or drive it up if you need it this weekend.

did you check to see if its your equipment leaking some sort of chemical to your water? Rust?

I have looked but have not found anything so far. It's entirely possible that I could have missed something. Maybe I need to host a "search" party one day and have a few reefing buddies over. Someone may check a thing or two that I didn't think to check for. Hmmmmmmm.........

Dan, I've been dealing with high nitrates and phosphates ever since I started removing/vacuuming the sand with my water changes about a month and a half or 2 months ago. Looks like the phosphates finally made it down past 0.1 after that last huge water change but the nitrates are still hovering between 20-40 ppm. The API test kit is not any more precise beyond that.

Thanks for the offer on the reagent. Mark already put some in the mail yesterday and I've placed an order for a new box.

Hi Kenny, have you thought of having your water tested by an outside lab? I stumbled across this link where they test your water for just about everything.
natureef . com/h2otest.htm
The page is sort of vague but there's an email address at the bottom where you could ask them questions.
I haven't used them myself but I've seen a few threads of others who have.

I saw another site called Aquarium Water Testing . com that might be worth checking out.
