Pooky's 300

Too be honest Brian, I'm scared of those spots :( I had a couple frags get them awhile back and then they just turned into brown jelly. I have never figured out that piece.

For sure I'll keep an eye on it. The only downside to a small frag is that once it starts going south, it doesn't take but a blink of the eyes.

Speaking of turaki........or could this be something else???

I sucked them all in :)

Still can't figure out this piece. It actually has a nice yellowish green tone to it that I couldn't catch in the pic. The coralites are a little bit more elongated and slender compared to all the other turakis I've seen over the years. The tips are also more blunt and not rounded. They looks almost like a speciosa or echinata but the overall growth doesn't have that tight bottlebrush appearance.

Is it a wild piece. I've seen pieces that have come in with the thinner coralites and after some time in captivity they get the rounded tips we are more customed to seeing. PM me the colony shot if you want, but I'm not seein the typical associations with a speciosa.

No, not a wild piece but an aquacultured one, hence the reason I am leaning more towards the turaki than anything else. It's just that the growth structure is very different, that's all. It's the only pic I have right now. Maybe I'll attempt a top down and see what shows up. I wanted a couple of test sticks and this one was interesting enough for me to try :)

Yeah, that seems to be the consensus, although I am still holding out the slim hope that it will turn out to be something different and a nice surprise. We'll know more once it puts on some serious growth.

Alrighty then. So were you talking about your echinata or a turaki? I don't remember seeing a turaki in your tank.

I have the icefire which is a Echinata but I also have a purple turaki (same color as purple monster, almost identical) as well as the more common turquois w/ blue tip turaki. You prolly didn't see them because they are dwarfed by my other colonies. I also have one that that looks like ORA's blue iris but it's instead of purple tips it has blue tips, VERY slow grower that thing.
