Cool skimmer Kenny! I am glad it fit in the sump. How is the noise level? In the video it seemed pretty loud. Could also have been my speakers on the pc~

Thanks Frankie. It's actually very quiet, especially with the air silencers. The noise you hear is overflow water dumping into the sump right next to the skimmer.

Some pix from today. The Sedra 9000 High Output pumps arrived a couple of days ago. I switched out one of the pumps for the HO version and boy, what a difference it made. I forgot to open up the gate valve and it overflowed almost immediately. I can't believe the amount of bubbles the HO pump generates.

Here is the old skimmate from about 2 days worth after the full break-in period. Also, I only run the skimmer for about 18 hours.

The new HO 9000

Bubble production with one new HO 9000 installed. The foam is much drier for sure.

Chrisrush -- the skimmer line [as300 and a few others] have been upgraded to the HO 9000. WM sent them out I think b/c he had the standard pump. At least that was the case for me.

Thanks Rob.

KRASHPD - it does pull out a lot of nasty stuff. Definitely much more efficient than the H&S I had before. Not much tweaking at all. It all starts and ends with the gate valve. Once it was broken in, it was really steady with foam production.

Frankie - it's a bigger beast now that I had a chance to switch out the second pump for the HO version. Man, this thing rocks.

roktsintst - I do that for a few reasons. I wanted it off during and after the period when I feed the tank. Second, my system is in the garage so heat is an issue. The period the skimmer is off is in the middle of the photoperiod. I don't know if it really does anything, but it wouldn't hurt. Third, this skimmer can easily handle a much bigger system. So the time it's working is probably more than enough to clean up the tank. If I don't need it on, may as well save some electricity :D

Chris - the HO pumps pulls in approximately 1000-1100 LPH, while the older version only pulls around 600 LPH. The new pumps are much more efficient. As for the HO pumps being standard on all WM skimmers, I don't believe so. The main reason being that certain smaller versions won't be able to handle the additional air introduced by the HO pumps. Basically, they'll blow the lids off the skimmers :D

Nice tank and build thread. Your frag tank looks pretty professionally done too. Very nice skills if i may say so. That new skimmer sure is a monster and i have to add that your frag collection has left me drooling.

Thanks for the kind words. Sometimes, having too many other hobbies do pay off :D

spleen - you are welcomed any time.

Here is a shot of the tank from last night. Yes, I do intend to clear up the sandbed soon, right after RAP in a couple of weeks.

I've added some new fish and they are all doing well. These are Bartlett's Anthias. I plan to add a few more to bring the total up to 9. Beautiful fish. Eats everything thrown into tank, including flake food.

Female Japanese Swallowtail angel. I'm keeping an eye out for a male to finish up the pair. Also still looking for a male Watanabei angel for the 2 females I already have.

Anthias schools always look attractive ... (drool) How many times a day are you feeding them, Kenny?

that FTS is pretty sweet too!

Tank looks great Kenny. :)
Keep an eye on the Bartlett's. Most will turn to males over time and your population will battle down to the end. I started with 4 females and a male and I am down to two males and a single female that is looking more and more like a male everyday. I have had this discussion with a few different hobbyists and it has happened in tanks even up to 500 gallons. They are such a beautiful fish though.

Everything is looking great. Sweet FTS...Love the bartletts..My anthias only eat meaty foods. I think if I try anymore I will defiently go with the Bartletts..

spleen - I try to feed the tank twice a day but it's iffy if all the fish get to eat when the lights aren't on. The feeding when the lights are on is pretty heavy and consists of 2-3 mini-meals including: nori, frozen blend, then flakes. The feeding at night is spread over an approximate 2-3 hour period. Oh yeah, the tank is all scrubbed in anticipation of your visit to the mainland :D

Mark - Thanks for the info. I'll keep an eye on them to see how they are co-existing. Yes, they are beautiful. Not to mention quite hardy. They were all eating the first day in the tank.

Eric - I guess I may just be lucky or Bartlett's aren't picky eaters. I've actually seen them eat the nori. Of course, that's the first thing I feed the fish with so they may be hungry as heck.

Didn't know that about Bartletts - good to know, Mark.

Kenny - LOL .... I would have been impressed with your tank even if the front glass was encrusted in coralline. I can't get my fish too interested in nori though they LOVE Formula 1 flake food, go figure.

I have to do another water change next week so the tank will look all nice and pretty :D

I want to make sure that my fish get nori in their diet so that's the first thing I feed them every night. I figured they should be hungry so anything will do  I think that it actually worked. I actually break up the nori in the water instead of tying it to a piece of rock or something for them to nibble on. At the end of the night, I may clip a piece to a rock and let the fish pick at it leisurely.

I've been waiting to post this bad boy up. The last one I got died from ich and managed to wipe out the rest of the fish in the tank except for the purple tang, so I was a little gun shy in showing him off. It's super healthy, haven't shown any sign of diseases, and eating heartily. It's about 6-7" long and almost 1" thick :eek2: And the colors on him are amazing. I've never seen one for sale with these bright colors.
