my mystery jumped last week so now maybe I can fit a harem of flames in my tank. Love those fish but the mysterys' in my experience have been pretty mean. Gotta love the flames...no other fish stands out like a flame IMO. If I do get flames I will definitely add a net to the top.

Chad

Sorry to hear that Chad. Maybe the demise of one will signal the arrival of something better :) I've had a Mystery along with my Flames in the past. Never saw the Mystery pick at anyone, including the Flames. Yeah, a net is a must. I've had a net up since day one. To me, any fish can be a jumper if spooked. You just never know.

Awesome wrasses Kenny!

Thanks Sara, from one wrASSe lover to another  Here's a new member of the family, C. laboutei. He was just released from his container this morning before I left for my flight. He's been hanging out and eating in the specimen container I made for a few days now. None of the other fish have shown any sign of aggression so it's a good sign so far. He's got the most amazing yellow and purple coloration along the dorsal area.

Nothing beats a nice looking wrASSe ;)

Loving the laboutei as well ... nice score on wrasses!

Great addition Kenny. Please keep updating your thread so I do not have to add anything to mine. :p

I'm done for awhile. I still have a few trades lined up, but its starting to get to that time of the year when the tank takes a back seat to having a life. I've done quite a few trades over the last couple of months; way more than I have even done before. Some went well and others reminded me why I did not like trading in the first place ;)

I guess we'll have to see about the "done" comment :)

Sorry to hear some of your trades didn't go too well. I just look at it as ways to acquire pieces that I would otherwise probably wouldn't be able to get. You win some and lose some. But in the end, I have what I wanted so I consider it cool.

Those are some beautiful looking wrasses! Which LFS did you buy those from?

How often do you do a water change?

Most of your LFS are willing to get a particular fish if you ask or develop a relationship with them. Sometimes, asking is all it takes.

I don't change my water nearly enough. On average, probably 30-40 a month, sometimes longer if I get lazy. I should be more diligent in doing that, perhaps my SPS would color up more :o

I totally understand about the trading thing and a way to acquire new pieces, but I have always been a person that see the value in purchasing. There is a set price and if two people agree on that price, its a done deal. There is something to be said to that. I have done trades where I think I get the better end of the deal and I have done trades where I am on the short end of the stick. Thats just part of the trade game. :)

There is something to be said for purchases and sometimes, that's the only way to go. I like trading b/c I am cheap :lol2: Most of my trades are done with friends and other reefers I know. Some are who I considered to be "trustworthy" people as I deal with them for the first time. Some of those have become friends :) The rest are just a means to an end. You can learn an awful lot about someone as you PM/email back and forth. If at any time during that process I don't feel comfortable, I just end it right there.

I've learned to look past the short end/long end of the stick. That can ruin the fun real fast. Most of the time, I've given more to my friends than I get back. And sometimes, it's the other way around. What are friends for anyways if you can't share stuff you enjoy mutually? So who wants to be my friend? :mixed:
