Kenny,

I know that you will figure this out and beat it or perhaps it will mysteriously disappear just like it mysteriously appeared. When it’s gone and you feel comfortable, make the 45 minute drive down and bring the laser pointer. I’ll cut whatever you want (assuming that there is something you want) to get you jump started. Hang in there man, it’s all part of the journey!

Dan

Thanks for the offer, Dan! I'll definitely make the drive, even if it's just to hang out and chat. You are right. It's like a part of growing old. Problems come up and you learn to deal with them.

Kenny- Have you ever thought about pulling out the substrate?

Mark, I actually have thought about it but just the thought makes my head hurt. It would have to be the last resort if anything. It would be very difficult if not impossible to get the majority of the substrate out without taking out all the rocks, and that's definitely something I don't ever want to think about. What I may do instead is to vacuum out the top inch or so and see what happen if it comes down to that.

I totally understand about the headache Kenny. As the corals start to grow in, they have deflected to flow differently and have directed more toward the sandbed. I am getting tired of having to push it back every couple of days :( I might be adding some ARM reactor media but if that doesn't work, I might be forced to go BB. Luckily I put down a sheet of grey PVC when I was setting up the tank.

Fortunately, I don't have that problem with growing corals redirecting water flow in the tank b/c I've had to take the skeletons out :eek2: I use a pretty coarse substrate so I've had no problem with moving sandbed yet.

Here is a recent example of some RTN on an Acro. This is a largish colony about 7" across. One day this week, a large branch died off completely while the rest of the colony is still doing fine

:sad1: I am so sorry about the continuing problems Kenny. I know that its not been fun. I don't know what I would do if I was in your shoes :(

CRAP!
Grasping at straws...maybe hook up a UV sterilizer?

Had some extra time today....

Had some extra time today....

So, I just skimmed through all 40 pages of the first part of your thread and all 26 of this second half and..... WOW, NICE TANK!!!

I feel for ya on the mystery acro affliction though, that's a real bummer. Thankfully you've got the most amazing and diverse collection of LPS to make up for it... if you want to look at it that way? I know that probably doesn't make up for the losses. Pretty amazing list of SPS's as well.

Anyhow, I hope you get to the bottom of it and in the mean while, try to hang in there!

I'll be taggin along if that's alright!

Well, Mark, you and I both know the feelings of having a tank go downhill. The difference is that I don't know what the culprit is so I can't even begin to fix it. Hopefully, the carnage will stop soon and I can rebuild the Acro collection back up.

I do have a small one but it's probably undersized for the system. I've been meaning to hook it up, just need to plumb it in.

Welcome Dave and thanks for the compliments and well wishes. Yes, I do have a lot to be thankful for, especially the friends I have made as a result of this hobby. Hope I can keep you and the others entertained with happier news and pictures of more eye candies :)

Oh, I'm plenty entertained... you take a MEAN picture, I'll say that much! I wish I had a better camera, macro lens and some mad photog skills.

I'm sure you'll pull out of this low point and you've got plenty in your tank still to keep me interested.

Between you, Mark and Pnoy boy... you guys have got me in a constant state of drool, LOL!!!

Thanks Dave! It just takes a lot of practice and I still have a long way to go.

I've been lazy and have been shooting freehand instead of using a tripod. And oh yeah, the front pane is dirty too

At least its not all bad :D

Through everything, my setosa is one that had continued to thrive and grow...

No, it's not all bad. Couple of Montis lost some color but most of them are doing well. And it seems like whatever was afflicting the chalice stopped. The OS hasn't receded anymore. All the Favias are doing great :)

If I see any chalices receeding and my paramaters are in check, it's instant interceptor treatments for me!

Started one last Sunday ... I had my Pink WM, and a certain Ian's frag were having issues :(

Sorry to hear you were having problems too, Sara. Hope the interceptor treatment works for you. I swear, if it's not one thing, it's another
