Post your Amphiprion thiellei pictures......

Free bump. I hope you get some pics, but the only guy I know who keeps this species is Walt, and I haven't seen him on here in a while.

I´m studying some aspects of the formation of this species............

As well as the geographic distribution..........based in few pictures from the Nature..............

But in Aquarium............I know only older pictures..............

Walt have huge knowledge on this species..........and the last pictures is from him............

That´s why I post this thread..............to see new pictures......

These fishes are awesome...............

I have no idea how many people have this species................

Also I would like to know if people are attempting to breed...........

The only pair I know of reside in a tank at Reef Encounter in NJ. Store is owned by the guy the fish are named for.

Two hour drive for me or I'd check it out. Maybe send the guy with the 2 Petco gig thread over for some pictures. He's much closer than me haha.

Just ordered a frag tank from him, so when I go and pick it up i will try to remember to take my camera.

Oh wow I was just there today just browsing, actually a really quick browse, If I would have known that I would looked for them and taken a few pictures!

Just to make this thread more intresting...............I wil post few pictures of Amphiprion thiellei in the Wild................

Analysis of Natural History will provide valuable informations.............that help us in Captive Breeding attempts.................

Few years ago............our threads on this subject were full of doubts..........we were trying to theoryze Parental species.............geographic distribution............and etc................

But when we found pictures from Nature.................the things becomes more clear.............

Today our knowledge is improved..............we can suggest the geographic range...........we know that the Anemone Stichodactyla mertensii plays importante rule...............

We know that Amphiprion ocellaris is one of the Parental species.............

And we know that Amphiprion thiellei tends to be the Dominant Female................and the Males tends to be Amphiprion ocellaris..............

Let´s see some pictures :

From Menjangan Island........a small island, located 5 miles to the north-west of Bali island.....

The presence of this species in Menjangan Island north-west of Bali Island.......is explained...........once the Lombok Strait was an important passage of the Indonesian Throughflow............even during the Pleistocene Period................due its depht...........

The Makassar Strait are also an Indonesian Throughflow passage...............even during Pleistocene.............due its depht............

Below..........there are few pictures from Mactan Island............Cebu........Philippines............

We still lack some pictures of Amphiprion sandaracinos together with Amphiprion thiellei................

But there is a Picture that confirms the Sympatry of Amphiprion ocellaris and Amphiprion sandaracinos.................from Wakatobi Island............in Sulawesi...........Indonesia...................

picture.php

Source : http://timlaman.photoshelter.com/image/I0000rjdMMMmjtJo

This region is in South of Sulawesi Island.............prety close to Makassar Strait Region................

And Amphiprion thiellei is clearly product by Amphiprion ocellaris X Amphiprion sandaracinos.............

Below..........this Amphiprion thiellei picture is from Balicasag...........Bohol.........according the source........

All the Geographic Range............From Cebu...............along Makassar Strait...........to Bali.....................this species is founded in Shallow Waters.............not exceeding 10 meters................and hot temperatures 28-30 Celcius................

Amphiprion thiellei is an Asiatic species..................occouring along the Sunda Shelf borders........

While Amphiprion leucokranos is an Australian species...............occouring along the Sahul Shelf borders..............................

These species have similar formation..............based in multipe species crosses..............

They are diferent...........and separated by the Biogeographical context.........

I think Mike had a problem with his home tank and keeps his fish at the store temporarily. I recall them being in a tank towards the back of that big front display room - in with a really sweet Regal Angel!

Here´s another Picture of Amphiprion thiellei.........in the Wild............together with Amphiprion ocellaris..........hosted in Stichodactyla mertensii....................

They are the same fishes of the first Picture............

Kind of.. I thought it was paired with an ocellaris.. lately they have been fighting a lot more, maybe I should find another thiellei

Try a tiny A. ocellaris..............half size Female size............

This A. ocellaris...........came together with her............???

No, I have a access to many many ocellaris.. I threw one in there early on, the female is much larger, but not twice as big.. They are so hard to catch in the aquarium and I don't want to take everything out so I think I will give them more time..

I am not worried about the ocellaris getting beat up since we have so many, and the theillei seems ok, so wait and see what happens.

Yes.........maybe she needs more time..............

Pairing is a very intresting process.............

The BTA is outstanding............

I saw my first one here today in one of my Lfs in Bangkok... Pictures to follow. It was for sale for 'gulp' 28000 baht. That's 851 dollars at today's exchange rate!!!
