Powder blue becomes thin

I adopted PBT 2 months ago. That time it was healthy but time goes by he became thin even its belly is filled with food all the time. He constantly graves algae as well as nori but condition is getting worse I think.

May be he as infected by some parasite? Any comment or recommendation would be highly appreciated.

^^^^^^Good question. Many folks think tangs are strict herbivores, but they should get lots of meaty stuff as well.^^^^^^

First thing I would do is treat with Prazi-Pro, a wormer. Its the only reef-safe med I know or. It will kill feather dusters and other worms; but corals are generally OK. Internal worms are very common with captive fish and (IMO) should always be wormed in your before going to the DT.

Very true, but I also think many people grossly underestimate the sheer volume of food these fish need to maintain a healthy body weight. Meaty, high protein foods are quite important and sometimes overlooked - but balanced diet is key.

What are you feeding him, and how many times a day?

Ami:
Thank you for your comment. I feed him nori once a day but sometimes I feed him every other day. I also try to feed him with mixture of ELOS but most of them are eaten by clowns.

Thank you for your comment. First off, I'd like to separate him or other fishs in my fish tank so that I can make a comfortable environment to feed him with Meaty & protein foods.

What fish are you worried about out-competing the tang? This shouldn't be an issue at all, as powder blues are generally very aggressive feeders. I would feed the nori at least once per day, rotating between various colors or varieties (my personal favorites are TLF purple and green). Work in the NLS pellets as desjardinii suggested, they are very nutritious and should help put weight back on the fish. Try a variety of frozen foods throughout the day as well, and soak everything in selcon and zoe for amino acid and vitamin supplements.

They are clown fishes actually. Way too much greedy so PBT doesn't have many chances to feed.
I used to feed them with ELOS but will try NLS from now.
Thank you for your attention.

It would be a good idea to get a frozen meaty food, Larrys reef frenzy if you can find it in your area, or any of the cubed mixed diet foods like emerald entre or somethign similar, these are usually available at most large chain pet stores like petsmart or petco, and should certainly be available at any store that carries saltwater fish and corals.

depending on your fish load, start thawing a cube in tank water and feeding it to the tank in place of every other flake/pellet feeding.
