Premature Cat Shark PLEASE HELP!!!

So my idiot friend went and bought a shark egg about a week ago. Well the impatient a** went and cut it out. He gave it to me to try and see if i can save it(I tend to have dumb luck with saving animals). The problem comes in that it still has a yolk. I put it in a smooth tubaware contanier so it doesn't rip the sack. The yolk is a quarter size ball. I have a slow current running through for oxygenation. I really don't want this shark to die due to my friends stupidity. Any help would be great. I just hope the little guy isn't just doomed. Right now I'm on a work computer because mines shot. I'll post pics asap. Thanks again for any help.

Well Its day three and its still alive. Just swims around the little container. Not going to try and feed it till the yolk is all the way gone.

Make sure to keep up with the water changes (daily) in that small container. That shark will produce a lot of waste in a very small volume of water especially with no filtration.

I have water from my main tank cycling through. So the filtration is good. I was wondering how long it might take for the yolk to be fully absorbed? Being it was probably pulled from the ocean I have zero idea how far along it was.

It is pretty far along. I would keep it in very tight quarters. You do not want it to shake the yolk sac loose. My best guess is two weeks of yolk sac and two weeks more before it will feed. Never seen this situation before though.

It is actually looks tp be a carpet or bamboo shark and not a true cat shark. (Chiloscyllium punctatum to be exact).

As stated it is a bamboo, not a catshark. The little one should be able to pull though. However, keep it in small quarters and the water chemistry pristine as previously stated. I have seen sharks grown in petri dishes from embrio stages, so I would not worry too much about it. All the little guy/girl needs is the yolk, and the best possible water chemistry. As long as the shark has not been to traumatized from this whole experience, it will pull through no problem.
PS Tell your friend to buy a hatched shark next time, if he is too impatient.

i think it should be fine as long as the yolk sac is not damaged. i know some aquariums do that to show people how they grow inside the egg, and they still do fine.

Well its day 5 and it's still alive. I'm pretty sure the yolk is shrinking, even though it's only by a little. I'll post more pics w/ progress when I can. And thanks for the votes of confidence.
