Prettiest Color Magnifica / Ritteri?

I still have them both. Hope to put them in the same tank in the near future. These multiple smaller tanks are lots of work.

why do you keep them seperated? to prevent chemical war or just space restraint?
I don't think chemical war is something that is real. Anemones are difficult to keep and when one died, the reefer tend to look for things to blame it on since they are perfect and could not have killed the anemone because their system cannot be any healthier.
IMO, release toxin into the ocean is like spitting into the win, it just hurt the one who spitted. Nature is anything but dumb. These compex toxin are expensive for the organism to produce and it just make no sense to dump it into the water. If the two anemones touching each other, that is a different story.

I put each in their tiny tank, 24 g and 30 g. They are getting bigger now and difficult to keep them from getting to the side of the tank. I am setting up a 30X30X25 for both of them together. I just don't have a tank running that is big enough for both of them. My largest tank have 16 inches Gigantea and a BTA in it so it is out of the question. I used to have the Red magnifica in the 58 g tank, but when the Gigantea arrived, it get the big one and delegate the Magnifica in the smaller one. This is OK for the Magnifica, but I am taken care of 4 tanks at the same time and it is just too much for me. I need to get back down to one or two.

wow, that baby is sweet! Fantastic color. Just think how cool a pair of black/white percs would look in that bright yellow. Mind if I ask where you got it? or where is a good online source for healthy/colorful magnifica/ritteri?

Try to feed it food with a piece of tentacle of another Magnifica (or even another species of anemone that is not bleached) IMO, it cannot hurt but may help your anemone recover.
I'm interested in hearing more about this. Can you elaborate?

Essentially you do a zooxanthellae transplant. Let a bleached anemone ingested some zooxanthellae in hope it will take and start a new population in it's tissue. Several people did this and it seem that their anemone recovered was jump-started with this process. I don't have any airtight documentation but it make sense to me and it just cannot hurt

This statement I have to disagree with.
I did notice my nems reacting differently to each other on first intro(crispa and doreensis)
However, I do think they either adapt or relax if not bothered/disturbed.
I do however run carbon regardless for insured safety.
Now, I have to add to this that I also noticed a big difference in reaction to my adding of ricordia's.
This is when my sebae of 5.5 years suddenly began to move, and my LTA seemed less vibrant/healthy.
Also, my maroon clown just hated these more than any other corals placed near.
She would beat rics so they were in center of tank at farthest point from both nems(my nems were bookends)
The difference in her reaction to rics was dramatic, to the point I figured she smelled/sensed something I could not.

This is the coolest Mag I have ever seen. This was taken from a video(not mine) that was taken at the Marshall Islands.

My Fav!

My Fav!

8 years, 3 splits, and still goin'

Can't fit the mother colony in my display tank, but this clone is doin' fine as are the two others at Greenwich Aquaria, and having seen all the color variations I admit to being partial to the pale purple like mine :p

one of the ways to solve this could be to build 3-4 connected displays that can be fed by one sump? that way you get one larger system, easier to administer, less time demanding and likely more energy efficient.. attached drawing is plan for my future anemone system, maybe something like this could work for you too?

Ahhh, the eye of the beholder....Is there really a bad magnifica? Ok, some of the tan ones but really.... Mine is very much like JP's, it's been quite a battle to get it healthy... I think my favorite color is the red base with green tentacles like on the cover of 'The Reef Aquarium' volume 2, found here:

http://www.amazon.ca/Reef-Aquarium-Comprehensive-Identification-Invertebrates/dp/1883693136

Have looked for years to find one like that with no success...

Mine start slitting by deflated a little and mouth open. I can then see the rock through the mouth. Then it form an O, then a C, then slitted into 2 C's. Then it formed up and mouths reformed. All happen over 48 hrs or so. One time out of three, it stop at forming a C and I have to cut it into two C's.
