just switched my 75 reef into a 125 and now ive got a 75 thats not in use and planning to make and home for a carribean reef octopus. got a couple of questions

1)recommend linking the 75 to the 125 on the same sump? or running the 75 seperate and using a canister filter, power heads protien skimmer and air pumps?

2)what kind of substrate works best (use medium and find crushed coral in reef)

3)how bout a fiberglass screen over the top and duct tape the edges down on one end of tank to allow oxygen transfer and hoses for filter etc. and a glass top glued down on the other side?
or is there an easier way?

4)lighting... hmmm minimal lighting huh...reef aquarium... hmmm...how bout a single actinic blue run off an electronic ballast instead of vho?

5)last is it true that octopi dont like astroturf (line top of tank with this)?

anyway new here and to the oct. world so any answers would be helpful.
