PTSD treatment tank

I am ready for the algae battle bring it on. But I will do a few more runs with the IV drip into the 10 micron filter sock before I start stocking my tank. I really don't plan on having anything in it for at least 2 months so I will have time to put a dent into it.

Well I am one happy camper the skin for my stand and canopy should be done in a week or so. It is starting to look really nice. But I should have taken some pictures of it but it slipped my mind. Oh well, this week I am starting to look around for lighting. I have the reefbreeders photon over my 40 breeder and I really like it. I am thinking about going with the same lighting over this tank.

Reef on Sarge! I like the pattern of the rocks, lots of potential. I think you Snipers are awesome people with good humor. I was on the range in Bagram last year and I told the one Sniper that ran it at the time I would put all three in the same hole. He said show me. I only put 2 out of three in the same hole for a head shot. He pretended to be impressed as we both laughed.

I guess the big question is what was the distance? Was this on the zero range? Lets move it out to the 100m and then we can talk if it's not bad and go from their. When I was in the process of getting my medical out I was running the pre-sniper course. I'm telling you some of the guys they were trying to run through it was a joke. Half of the time they didn't know what end the round came out of.

Well, it was the zero range with an m4. Im in theArmy now but I learned how to shoot in the corps where they qual at 500m. I think I was just happy to get back on the range that day with people who appreciate it ;)

That is one of the few things that I really miss about being in was the range time. I just cant spend the money for rounds to shoot like I use to.

Ahhhhhh the range. I got some stories on that. One guy lost his mind when he saw a deer on the range. I cant remember how many squat thrusts he did that day but it seemed like it was eternity.

Tanks are so relaxing, great treatment I'm sure. Hope you had a nice Veteran's Day and thanks for your service (from one Vet to another).

I feel ya. I loved going to the range and have several AR's. I try to shoot as much as I can but it just doesn't happen enough.

Yeah I'm in the process of building another one. I think that is as much fun building them as it is shooting them.

Well I guess its time for a small update on how the tank is going. The cycle is going in full swing right now so that's a good thing. I got a order of plants for my fuge so its up and running with tons of little pods running all around. So I guess I can say that I have my first livestock in my tank. I also go my light ordered. I'm going with a reefbreeders Photon 48 for it. I know a few people will jump on me about my choice but I figure I really like the 32 that I have right now on my other tank. So why not give it a try. It should be about 16"-18" over the water so I should have enough light spread to cover my tank with the 90deg optics on it. Then this long weekend we got coming up I will do another SeaKlear drip into my 10 micron sock to help knock the PO4 down. When I checked it the other day it was up to .20ppm so it has gone up since my last one that I done on it. It knocked it down to .06ppm. I figure a couple more times and it should be to the point where GFO and my fuge should be able to keep up with it. If not I have enough of the SeaKlear that I can do it up to 5000 times and still have some left over.

Ok onto my next order. I have been looking at controlers but I guess I am clueless about them. I have read good about the reefkeeper and also the apex. What is some of the good and bad about both of them? This will be my first one so I guess I just dont know what I really need or what it should have.

How's the tank coming along Battle? I stumbled across this build thread while googling DSA 190 with reefbreeder leds! I was in Camp Anaconda in Balad, Iraq back in 04'-05' with the 1st/244 Aviation Battalion serving as Medic. Like others & you, I find retreat from PTSD from my 90g mixed reef and 75g cichlid tank!
But now I've got the upgrade itch and I'm really digging the DSA 190. A guy in my local reefing community has the DSA model 140 and it's an awesome tank. I'm currently running my 90g with a 36" Trigger systems elite sump and Diablo 225xs skimmer, so this stuff could swap over. Skimmer is rated for 180-200 gallons, but I would eventually like to upgrade to a Skimz or a Vertex, but it would get me started. As far as lights go, I too was thinking of the Photon 48. Did you end up going this route? I have the Evergrow D-120's over the 90 now and love them!
Also, for Christmas I bought my tank a full Apex & LSM and I absolutely love it! The guy that wrote comprehensive manual for the Apex is in my local reefing club and he is very helpful when it comes to programming and other Apex related things. At first it was intimidating, but I caught on quick. It's so nice to be out of town sitting in a treestand and being able to check in on your pride and joy! If I would have bought the Apex from the get go I probably would've saved money on crap like timers, surge protectors, and heater controllers!
Sorry for the long-winded post, but your build is awesome and exactly what I want to do eventually! All the way down to the powder-coated metal stand! Keep up the great work! Thank you and the many others for the sacrifices made to protect our great country!

Thanks Mknightryder, Well I really don't have much for updates right now. I hope by the end of this weekend I should. Today my apex will be getting delivered. It says on the truck for deliver on the tracking so that's a good thing. The guy building the skin and canopy for my tank has had some medical problems so that has taken long then planned. When I talked to him the other day he was thinking it should be done this weekend so I can pick it up from him. I am supper happy about that. But the tank has just been on running along. I guess this is a good thing. Just letting my tank get settled in really good before I do the move over. So maybe by next weekend I should have everything all moved from the 40 to this one. I guess now that I am thinking about it I will get some water mixed up and do a water change on it.
As for the lights I got the reefbreeders photon 48 for it. I have plugged them in just to make sure they work but I can't mount them until get the canopy. So I guess that will be the test to see if it can cover this tank. If not I can always take the photon 32 that I have over my 40 and add it to it to help it out.
So I guess I better get to adding stuff more often then I have on here. But nothing has really happened to add anything. But things should start moving fast here soon I hope.

Cool cool! Yeah the first thing I learned about reefkeeping was PATIENCE! Ha!
I went and dropped off some SPS frags to a fellow reefer in the freezing rain this morning. We hardly ever get this kind of weather down here in the south! Anyways, he's the guy with the DSA 140. He let me look over it with a fine-toothed comb earlier! Really like the DSA tanks. He got the matching stand and canopy from DSA for the lifetime warranty they offer, But I'm with you on the metal stand. Even though it was a nice stand/canopy and well built I still want a metal framed stand with detachable skins using rare-earth magnets, so I can access the sump area from all three sides.
Well keep it up Battle and I'll be following along! Oh yeah... you going to LOVE the Apex once you figure it out. When mine first came in I had it controlling Christmas lights and other electronics so I could make sure I had the programming part figured out before I installed it to my tank. Fusion should be available to everyone very soon....

Well the apex didn't make it. I guess UPS got a late shipment and it missed the trucks going out today. So I guess I will get it on Monday.

I was thinking about that last night. I might stop by UPS today but if I don't its not going to kill me to wait until Monday.

Well I thought that I would run down to the UPS place to pick it up. Well office that you can pick your stuff up at is closed on Saturday and Sundays. Oh well it was worth a shot to try.
