PTSD treatment tank

I plan on doing the LC drip with a IV bag and line into a 10 micron sock while its cycling. I am planning on letting it take a couple of months even before I move any of my fish over. While I'm doing that I will do a LC drip a couple times a week to see how it does. I have nothing but time with this tank so if it takes longer so be it.
 
Flow Flow Flow....

Make sure there is plenty of flow lines around and in the rock.

I set my 180 up turn on a powerful return pump (in the DT not through pipe) and let it eat, during cycling. Then I added my sand and just let it find the place it wanted to go.

Sometimes I think I need more flow, but things seem to be doing good right now.
 
Just caught this thread. My tank is my PTSD treatment as well. I'm a medically retired infantryman with two Iraq tours and a few other trips under my belt in 13 years of service. My tank really brings me a lot of peace and I built it right next to my bed. I will say that the "uglies" stage about put my PTSD in hyperdrive but after it matured it has been nothing bit a lifesaver.

I have 2 wp40 going at full power along with the return pump going. The sand has been added now its starting to flow where it wants to go. All I have to say about them wp40's is wow lots of flow with them now I just hope that they can last for awhile. This weekend I am going to hit up the LFS and find a nice rock to seed it with. I would pull one out of my tank but I have the dreaded bryopsis or how ever spelled going on right now. I miss a frag that had some on it I guess. I don't want to move it over to my new tank so I will find a nice clean looking rock and go from there. I also plan on getting my refuge up and running this weekend so that should help it out some to.

Infantry all the way. I was with 1/75 then 2/75 then I got out of bat and went to a regular line unit. I can be having a really bad day but when I sit down in front of my tank it makes it go away like nothing ever happened. I have been trying to talk the VA into paying for it as a treatment plan but they are not going for it. The sad thing is to I work for the VA also. Oh well I guess I need to look into if I can write it off on my taxes and a medical device.
 
I wish I could write mine off but I'm at 100% and don't work so I have no taxes to write off. Reef on Ranger... Reef on...

It's filled and now the fun but not so fun starts "the cycle". This weekend I am going to hit up a few LFS and look for a nice seed rock to put in it. OH the joys of starting with dry rock. Also I need to find a good lighting system for my fuge so I can get it up and running. I will check the PO4 tonight and get ready for it to start jumping up like crazy since I went with BRS Pukani dry rock. I got some seaKlear on order and some 10 micron filter socks. I figured while its cycling I will do the LC drips to lower it. Plus I want to do it while I have no live stock in the tank. Even though I just read on here (forgot his name) that he does it even with his tank stocked. But I plan on doing it a couple of times a week to see if I can get it down to workable levels. The next major equipment order will be lighting. I should be ordering that in the next month or so. I figure as long as I dont have a light on it I wont be temped to put something in it before its ready. Then the skin and canapy for it. But that is on hold for right now. I was working with a guy to make it but it has been put on hold for right now because he is having some medical issues. I told him thats fine its not like I need it tomorrow. So that is where its sitting.
 
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The one bulkhead that I had all of the problems with leaking is now leaking again. I changed it out with a couple of different bulkheads to get it to stop leaking. I just looked under my tank tonight and I see a drip of water. Well I started to look around and there it was just a small drip. To get to it I will have to drain the sump and pull it out to get to it. Well I guess I know what I will be doing tomorrow. Not what I had planned for this weekend.
 
Fighting drips on new tank plumbing can be a major PITA - and the spots most difficult to reach are ALWAYS the ones that drip. Good news is it passes :) I really like your last rock scape. I'm a big fan of leaving significant areas of open sand.
 
Oh I know it's always the spot you can never reach. I need to drain the sump and move it out of the way so I can climb under the stand to fix it.
 
Well today I am really happy. My tank is making a step in the right direction. I used my Hanna tester and it tested out at .30ppm. Well I started a LC drip into a 10 micron filter sock. Well after doing one treatment it tested out at .09ppm. I will let it go for a week and retest it. I am thinking next weekend I will doing another drip but I will test before hand so I have some before and after readings.
 
Well after 24 hours of my LC drip my PO4 is now at .06ppm. I am starting to be one happy camper with numbers like this with using Pukani rock.

If you got the rock from BRS be patient. Many do the LC treatment before placing the pieces into the tank because of the hair and other algae issues.
