When the female was alive (she passed last week), they fought for about 2 months (probably because the female was larger than the male), then were together all of the time. My male sent her into hiding when he started trying to mate with her, and she starved. She was into it at first, then wanted nothing to do with it. Had them together for a couple of years, I believe. RIP.

Thanks for the condolences. I really miss her. Had her for a while, and she was named after my old lady. She wasn't as attractive a fish as my male, but had just as much personality...

Are you sure that's not a quoyi? If it's a princess, it's a stunning specimine. Puts mine to shame. LOL...
How is your tusk with your smaller fish?
Also: How are you doing with keeping your tank clean without a CUC? I'm asking because I'm seriously considering a tusk...

LOVE THE VIDS AND PICS! I thought tusks were the "gentle giants" (quoting another thread, a guy with one said this). Their teeth are pretty scary tho. Once I see a vid/pic of the Bellus I think I will make my decision. sc50964 that looks like a big harlequin in your tank! Is he aggressive towards any small fish (I didn't see any tho). I think the princess parrot is out of the running just because I like the quoyi more. Thanks everyone and keep bringing in pics, stories, and thoughts on the fish I have "narrowed it down to" lol

Quoyi and princess are in the same genus. The quoyi, has some small distinguishing coloration that are different from the princess. My princess is almost like a cross between the quoyi and the striped parrotfish. Some of my pictures show her when she is showing her stripes, and some of them show her without them. For some reason, she puts on her stripes when the camera comes out. A shame, because she is stunning without them. I'm not sure, but I don't believe the quoyi shows stripes like the princess and striped. If I could do it all over again, I would've got a quoyi. My LFS sold it to me as a quoyi, and I didn't know any different until I saw her stripe up, and posted pictures in another thread...

Not a great pic with the IPad, you can see a few others in the picture since everyone seems to crowd to where ever I am standing. Parrot is bottom left by the clam, although you can't see any color on him. Sorry for the dirty glass, with a broken foot and the top of the tank being 75" from the floor it is difficult to clean at the moment

ok, that bellus is so cool looking! Female, right? I don't see the quoyi, but other people's look really cool.
I am thinking a bellus female plus either:
Aussie Tusk
male blue jaw or crosshatch or quoyi parrot (pretty sure I have glass)
Male bellus
Please tell me which should go with the bellus. The order in which I like them is the order I put them in.

With a female Bellus a male Bellus would be best suited but they are poor shippers. Tusks are sweet but rarely available under 5.5-6"+ and I like to get my fish as small as possible. Triggers have a lot of personality once acclimated and they feel secure will be out all the time. I love the Quoyi most so that's my pick. Sounds like you just need a bigger tank and you can get them all and one of the three triggers! LiveAquaria Divers Den is the only place I have ever seen a small tusk (under3") recently.

Finding an indo version tusk around 3" shouldn't be tough in LFS. I got one for $60 years ago and still see them from time to time. They are, however, slow grower though. I believe I've only seen 1" growth over the past 2.5 years.

I personally don't find the female bellus too attractive since most of them that I've seen in the market are about 2", and the typical asking price is $60. It sort of looks like a damsel and not worth the money IMO. The only time I bought one was a 5" female bellus and that looked spectacular, but I've only seen one that size in LFS in 10 years. For reef safe angels, I would recommend watanabei angels but you will need to get a male female pair. If not, the male could easily turn into female.
That's funny because when asked about the wantabei I said it looked like a big damsel! Yours is cool though because its so big. So far this is what I am understanding from you all as a whole:

Australian tusks for me only. Not only are the 2-3 times more colorful the chances of them being collected by some shady Indonesian or phillipino with cyanide or some other "not responsible" method drops to 0.
